“Let your solitude be a shelter and a home.” — Rainer Maria Rilke

This quote has been sitting with me lately.

I think about what we wanted Rosa to be when we first imagined it—not just a place to grab coffee, but a place where you can come back to yourself.

Sometimes that means meeting a friend and connecting. Sometimes it means sitting quietly in the corner with your coffee, your book, your laptop, or simply your own thoughts.

We don’t always need to be surrounded by people to feel connected. Sometimes, we need a little space to breathe, think, and just be.

That’s what I hope Rosa can be for you—a little shelter in the middle of your day. A place where you can pause, feel comfortable being alone, and reconnect with yourself.

Maybe solitude doesn’t have to feel lonely.

Maybe it can feel like coming home. 🌹☕️

A little Monday behind-the-scenes 🌹

Monday at Rosa looks a little different.

We’ve been using our Mondays to work on the space and rethink how we do things behind the counter. This renovation is now about 90% done, and we’re getting really close to having everything where we want it.

One of the biggest goals is opening up the islands and creating a better flow for our team. It may not seem like a huge change from the customer side, but behind the counter, even a few extra steps can make a big difference when we’re making drinks nonstop.

And that’s something I’ve learned owning a small business: there’s always work happening that customers never see. If we’re not in the storefront, we’re usually working on something else—renovations, ordering, numbers, scheduling, admin, planning… the list goes on.

So this is your little peek at what we’ve been up to when the doors are closed.

Almost there. 90% done. And hopefully, a much better Rosa on the other side. 🌹☕️

Back-to-school week has been a little slow at Rosa.

I’ll be honest, when things get quiet, I get a little anxious. When you run a small business, it’s hard not to wonder, *Are we doing okay? Should we be doing more?*

But I’m learning that slow days are part of the journey too. Sometimes you just have to keep showing up, keep the faith, and keep going.

So while everyone is getting back into their school routines, we’re here—making coffee, cleaning things, figuring out what we can do better, and waiting for you to come hang out with us again.

And if you stop by, come say hi to Ben. He’s our barista and is genuinely always happy to see you.

Even on the slow days, there’s still something special about having familiar faces walk through the door.

Behind the scene espresso machine.

Our old machine and us have been through a lot together. She worked hard, but during busy hours, we were constantly trying to keep up.

So we finally decided it was time for an upgrade.

Meet **Summer.** ☀️

Summer is our new espresso machine, and she’s going to help us speed up service, make things easier for our baristas, and keep the coffee moving when we get busy.
There’s always something happening behind the scenes at a small business.

Sometimes growth looks really pretty.

And sometimes it looks like moving equipment, lifting things through windows, and wondering why you decided to do this in the first place.



But we keep going.
