Food trucks are a rich part of St. Louisโs food culture, bringing delicious, unique, fast, and affordable food wherever we are allowed to go in the city. But unfortunately, we are banned in many parts of St. Louis. Right now, we are limited to working in seven small โvending districts,โ and we canโt park within 150 feet of any brick-and-mortar restaurant. As food truck owners, we can help local economies โ including local brick-and-mortar restaurants โ by bringing new foot traffic, and we create jobs and generate tax revenue for the city. St. Louisโs rules really restrict our mobilityโand when mobility is the whole point of our businesses, thatโs a hard restriction to overcome.
Weโre trying to change the law to allow food trucks to vend anywhere in St. Louis. And we need your help to tell the Board of Aldermen that the current restrictions are preventing us from reaching our potential! We are trying to make three big changes to St. Louisโs vending laws. We want to get rid of vending districts so that we can vend anywhere in the city where it is safe, get rid of the distance requirement from restaurants so we can vend in more places, and decrease the huge fee we have to pay to work downtown โ right now, the city charges us $1,000 a year, which is a significant burden for small businesses like ours.
Click here to send a message to tell the Board of Aldermen how much food trucks mean to you: https://instituteforjustice.quorum.us/campaign/42947/
And let us know where youโd like to see more food trucks by pinning a location on the map: https://map.proxi.co/r/STLFoodTrucks
Right now, food trucks in St. Louis are prohibited from vending in most of the city. We're trying to change that.
