Some weeks are just busy.
And then there are weeks that remind you why you started in the first place. ❤️🔥
This was one of those weeks.
BBQ DADDY got to be part of a wedding. 💍 Two people starting a new chapter, surrounded by the people they love, and somehow our food got to sit right in the middle of that memory.
One of the biggest takeaways for us was getting to cook right there at the reception. It pushed us a little outside our normal comfort zone, but in a good way. It felt like one of those moments where you realize the business is growing into something bigger than where it started. 🔥
Then we got to be part of a baby shower. 👶 A completely different kind of beginning. Family, friends, laughter, everybody gathered around celebrating someone they haven’t even met yet.
And then there was the St. Clair Shores Parks and Recreation Downtown St. Clair Shores Social District. 🍻 People out, enjoying the night, stopping by the truck, talking, eating, coming back around, just living life for a little while.
Three different events.
Three different reasons people came together.
That’s what stuck with us.
Because when you’re in the middle of running a food truck, it’s easy to only see the work.
The prep. 🔪
The loading. 📦
The driving. 🚚
The setup.
The heat. 🔥
The rush.
The cleanup.
The long day that turns into a longer night. 🌙
But every once in a while, you look up from the cutting board and realize what’s actually happening around you.
A bride and groom are starting their life together.
A family is getting ready to welcome a new baby.
A group of friends are standing around a truck laughing over a plate of BBQ.
And suddenly it doesn’t feel like we’re just selling food anymore.
We’re being invited into people’s lives. ❤️
Even if it’s only for a few minutes.
Even if all we do is hand them a plate.
That plate ends up sitting in the middle of a memory.
That means more to us than we probably say enough.
BBQ Daddy was built around good food, but the older this thing gets, the more we understand that the food is only part of it.
It’s the people. 🤝
It’s the conversations at the window.
It’s somebody bringing their friend back because, “you gotta try this.” 😂🔥
It’s seeing familiar faces again.
It’s being trusted to show up when the day actually matters.
And every once in a while, it’s getting an opportunity that pushes us into a new level and shows us what we’re capable of.
That’s what makes the long hours worth it.
So to everyone who let BBQ Daddy be part of their week, their celebration, their night out, or their family’s moment — thank you. 🙏
We don’t take any of it for granted.
Good BBQ. 🍖
Good people. ❤️
Great times. 🔥
That line means a little more to us after weeks like this.
