For several weeks now, I have been working on an updated experience for Food KAB with our new companion app, Pick and Drop.
QUICK PAUSE: I am NOT replacing the Food KAB App, that will live on and eventually share similar QOL updates based on user feedback.
The plan made sense: Find a way to bring back the experience of Partnered and Non-partnered listings sharing the same directory without getting rid of the Pick and Drop aspect, which helps us list more options. (In this case, as you can see on the second screenshot, SIXTY listed places!)
When it came to our partnered listings landing in the app, this was an opportunity for me to bring an untested version of our online ordering page revamp. The core idea was to build something that rivaled the top-rated user-friendly online ordering sources.
Take a look at screenshot 6. You'll also see we reverted to our former price structure, transparently listing the fees, but this time, clearly separating Pickup from Delivery.
If you're new to us, 100% of the delivery fee and 100% of any tip you give go to the driver. Our service fee is $4.50, but with an ongoing $2 off, so Food KAB is really only making $2.50 per delivery with this model. Nothing on Pickups.
If you look at the math of the system I've put into place, let's say we did only 20 orders in a day, 11 are delivery, 9 pickup. $0 made off pickup, $27.50 made off Deliveries. Not very glamorous right? Off our current service fee system, we honestly aren't hitting much better numbers and 20 orders in a day feels like a good day these days.
My though process here, fix the fees, clean up the ordering experience, get back to posting daily and getting the word out, and better days will be ahead. So this is where that new journey starts. For weeks I knew what I was building towards. 1) Lower Fees 2) A Clean User Experience and 3) Finding That Reconnect With The Community. I'm ready, and I hope you're ready to give us a try again!
The lower fees are not live on the Food KAB app, only on the Pick and Drop website (you can save it as a web app as well),
Pickanddrop.me. I'm going to leave it like that for a few weeks, in hopes to get some users to try out the new build and maybe get some early feedback.
Hope everyone is doing well! We hope to see you soon!
