They always seem to think they have to impress me.
Fancy dinners.
Big gestures.
Expensive gifts.
Some grand performance meant to sweep me off my feet.
But they don’t understand me at all.
I don’t need a pedestal.
I built my own.
I don’t need someone to buy me the world.
I’ve already learned how to create a life I’m proud of all by myself.
I’ve seen the glitz.
Done the fancy dinners.
Taken the adventures.
Enjoyed the beautiful things.
And none of that is what makes my heart stay.
You want to impress me?
Show me your heart.
Show me your depth.
Give me honesty when it would be easier to hide.
Give me loyalty when no one is watching.
Talk to me, not at me.
Make me laugh.
Let me see the parts of you that you don’t show everyone else.
Tell me what keeps you awake at night.
Tell me what sets your soul on fire.
Be real with me.
That matters more than anything money could ever buy.
Yes, I have standards.
I earned them.
I’ve lived enough life to know what I will accept and what I absolutely will not.
I won’t tolerate dishonesty.
Disrespect.
Games.
Half-hearted effort.
And I’m not lowering my standards just because someone thinks they’re too high.
I know what I bring to the table.
More importantly, I know what I deserve in return.
I’m not looking for someone to rescue me, complete me or place me above the world.
I want someone who can stand beside me.
Someone who brings truth, passion, consistency and a heart that isn’t afraid to go deep.
Walk with me.
Laugh with me.
Be vulnerable with me.
Show me who you really are when all the impressing stops.
Because I’ve worked too hard to become this woman.
I built this life with my own hands.
I found my own strength.
Created my own happiness.
And I’m not stepping down from everything I’ve earned for just anyone.
