Happy Saturday Springfield! It’s been sad turning people away today who didn’t yet know we are closed. Unfortunately, the restaurant is almost empty so serving sushi is impossible! I have some loose dry goods that need a good home. I have forks, spoons to go containers, portion cups and more! If you are a nonprofit in need of some of these items, please come by and pick up some of it or all of it. I will edit this post when everything is gone or when I leave for the day.

Edit: Not a lot of interest so far today so I’m heading out. I’ll be back tomorrow.

That’s a wrap Springfield. What a wild ride it has been. We put in so much hard work. We had absolutely no idea what we were doing but we learned so much. See those two brick walls? We did that. We stood on scaffolding for days applying the brick, grouting, and painting. We had no idea how to do that. That floating ceiling? We painted and hung those ourselves. Those outdoor channel letter signs and interior backlit sign? Yep. That was us. The digital menu and wood background? You guessed it. Us. All those tables and chairs? We did that. There are things we did behind the scenes like installing water heaters and prep sinks. We even attached the ice maker to the fountain drink machine and that was quite an undertaking.

Things did not work out for us on Battlefield, but we are thankful for the time we got to spend with our family. My dad was with me almost every step of the way in the beginning. I personally am thankful for the new skills I acquired. A huge thank you to our last management team who turned things around for us. Thank you to most of our team members. We had some good ones. Thank you to our loyal guests. We could not have made it this far without you.

We were hoping to open today, but unfortunately we do not have the coverage. Yesterday was our last day. We have some food left over and we are seeking some guidance on what to do with a lot of it. I would appreciate any input on that. We are still interested in reopening in a smaller location so please reach out through Messenger if you are interested in helping with that.

Well Springfield, this is it. I hope this is not goodbye, but maybe a see you later. We are planning on opening today and tomorrow, but there are coverage issues that may prevent us from being open at different times. If you are concerned, please call ahead.

Happy Thursday Springfield. We sincerely apologize that we were closed for lunch yesterday. Something came up at the last minute and we just were not physically able to open the restaurant. Hopefully you got a chance to grab a Hot Mess for 1/2 price at dinner, but if not we are offering it again today. Just mention that you saw this offer. We are also doing the Thursday Carnival Roll special so come in and see us before our last day on Battlefield on Saturday!

Thank you all so much for your outpouring of support yesterday. When we signed the lease for our space almost three years ago, there was never a doubt in our minds that we would be providing jobs and creating fresh, fast, made-to-order sushi for our community for many years to come. When we opened in the midst of the pandemic a few months later and had to navigate the many challenges it presented, our optimism quickly faded. As reality set in. We were certain that we would have to close our doors within a year. Thanks to terrific long-term team members and an absolutely amazing management team, we just celebrated our two year anniversary.

Unfortunately, we have come to the realization that the space on Battlefield is not feasible for us. I am open to moving the business to another space, but I could not do it on my own. I would need a partner who is willing to make an investment. Please reach out via Messenger if you are someone you know might be interested.

Dear valued customers and friends,

We regret to inform you that SushiFork Springfield will be closing its doors after the week of operations. Our last day of business will be on Saturday, April 15th.

We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our loyal customers who have made SushiFork their go-to sushi spot! To our hardworking staff, we cannot thank you enough for your dedication and contribution.
