Well…y’all certainly had some feelings about drone delivery yesterday. So we thought we should clear something up:

No, Pizza Zone is NOT considering delivering your pizza by drone. Your pizza is staying firmly on the ground. But your comments actually brought up something we think about a lot.

The pizza business is changing. Automated equipment can make more and more of the pizza. Ordering kiosks can replace the person at the counter. AI can answer the phone and take your order. And apparently, drones can even bring dinner to your house.

But just because we CAN automate something doesn't always mean we WANT to.

We're a local, family-owned pizza shop. We like answering the phone. We like knowing our customers. We like seeing you walk through the door. We like our employees making your pizzas, taking your orders, talking to your kids, and getting to know the families who have been coming here for years.

Technology probably could make some of those things faster or easier, but somewhere along the way, we'd lose a little bit of what makes Pizza Zone…Pizza Zone.

We'll continue using technology where it makes sense and helps us serve you better. But we have no interest in replacing the human connection that's been at the heart of this pizza shop for more than 26 years.

So don't worry.......
Real people will keep making your pizza.
Real people will keep answering your phone calls.
And real people will keep showing up at your door with it.

This looks like the future…but apparently, the future is already here. We spotted this drone station at Spring Cypress and 249 today.

Drone delivery is becoming a reality more and more, and it got us wondering...

30 YEARS AGO TODAY…...

A guy finished his manager shift at a pizza shop in Houston and got into a Prodigy chat room on his computer.

At the same time, a girl in Tucson was checking out chat rooms on her brand-new computer.

Somehow, out of all the people in all the chat rooms that night, those two people started talking.

And the rest is history.

1 month later: He sent her a plane ticket to Houston so they could meet in person. (My family was understandably a little concerned about me flying across the country to meet some guy from the INTERNET, so my secret “I'm safe” password was COWABUNGA)

2 months later: The girl sent the guy a plane ticket to Tucson so he could meet her family.

3 months later: The guy moved to Tucson.

6 months later: The guy and girl got married in Las Vegas.

1 year later: The guy and girl and her kids moved to Houston

3 years later: Their dream to opened a little pizza shop in Spring, Texas came true.

30 years later…still living happily ever after. Not bad for two strangers, a dial-up modem, and logging into the right chat room at the right time.

Remember when we told you beer & wine were coming to Pizza Zone?

They still are.

Eventually.

We've encountered another exciting chapter in the book called “Things Nobody Tells You Until You're Almost Done.”

After lots of back-and-forth trying to determine whether we needed to install a new fire alarm system, we finally have the official answer:

WE DO.

So…the beer and wine are still coming. They're just taking the scenic route through government red tape first, along with permits, installation, and inspections.

Until then, please buy lots of pizza. Apparently we now have an expensive fire alarm system to pay for.😔

That's our new bed.

It was delivered 6 weeks ago, and it's starting to look like this might be its permanent home.

We put 1,000% into this place because we care about YOU. We care about our product. We care about our service. And we care deeply about this shop and the reputation we've spent 26+ years building.

When we actually get some time off, we usually leave town so we can truly unplug for a little while.

Until then…the bed can wait.

We're not complaining....not one bit. We just wanted to give you a little peek behind the scenes and let you know how seriously we take caring for Pizza Zone and the people who continue to support us.

Today and tomorrow we're welcoming our friends and families from Kuehnle Elementary for their first Pizza Zone Spirit Night of the school year!

Grab the family, skip cooking dinner, enjoy some great pizza and help support your local school at the same time. And you don't have to be a Kuehnle family to participate — our whole community is invited to help them raise some dough!

The more families who join us, the more fun we have AND the more we can give back. Tonight we'll also be hosting Paul's Chess Meet-up....so order pizza and stay and play a game or two.

Choosing September's Pizza of the Month was a tough one!

Y'all suggested Eggplant Parmesan or Chicken Carbonara....and we were THIS CLOSE to picking one of them. But at the last minute, we remembered THIS one.

So buckle up.....Albuquerque called and they want their pizza back! .

Too bad. We're keeping it for September.

Meet our Albuquerque Turkey — Alfredo Sauce, Cheese, Turkey, Red Onions, Green Chiles, Cheddar Cheese, and finished with Parmesan sprinkled on top.

It's creamy, cheesy, loaded with flavor and just different enough to make you wonder why we haven't brought this one back sooner!

But remember...our Pizza of the Month creations don't stick around forever. You've got until September 30th to get your Albuquerque Turkey fix!

Just take a look at that calendar!
Between Spirit Nights, Spring Business Builders meetings, Chess Meet-Up, Parent Night and everything else happening around here, September is shaping up to be one BUSY month!

And we wouldn't have it any other way.

We love seeing our dining room filled with local schools, organizations, businesses, families and neighbors coming together.....and we'd love for YOU to be part of it.

August apparently wasn’t going to leave quietly without ONE MORE family birthday!

Today we’re celebrating our oldest son (and step-son), Cris!

Cris came back to the family business a few years ago and has become a huge part of keeping Pizza Zone running. He helps manage the store, makes our dough, and has earned the very important title of Mr. Fix-It — because apparently owning a restaurant means something is required to break at all times.

Help us wish the firstborn, our dough maker, our fixer of all the things, and our FINAL August birthday a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

We're celebrating another very special birthday in our family today... our daughter-in-law, Shaylene!

Shaylene is truly the sparkle and sunshine in our family — and she's also our official family photographer, making sure all those special moments (and grandbaby pictures!) are captured along the way.

She's also a very important part of the Pizza Zone family behind the scenes. Shaylene handles our payroll, daily paperwork, accounts payable, and so much more. As Paul and I slowly start stepping back, she'll continue taking on an even bigger role in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.

But of all the hats she wears, her most important one is being an amazing mommy to our grandbabies. ❤️

We're so lucky to have her in our family AND our Pizza Zone family!
