As we close out 2025, I want to start by saying thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for a wonderfully fulfilling and creatively challenging year! From birthdays, graduation, bridal showers, baby showers, family reunions, Farmer's Market and everything in between! I am a self-taught home baker who, somehow, managed to find a creative outlet and not being naturally artistic! Ive always said, "I feel confident in my bake, but the decorating is something I have to work hard at". So, every order, purchase, like, share etc, is appreciated beyond measure!
2025 was also challenging in a different way. I spent about half of it in and out of dr visits that ultimately landed me with a diagnosis that was NOT on my BINGO card: Celiac Disease aka now needing a Gluten Free lifestyle. Not exactly what a home baker wants to hear and the look on the Dr's face when I told her this is what I do, felt a little disheartening, too.
As we end this year, we're facing not just me, but 2 of my kids also on their way to the same diagnosis, which will eventually lead our house to just becoming fully Gluten Free. The baking will continue as it does, but will provide me an opportunity to challenge myself even more, which is exciting!
As Ive continued on with my baking of cookies & cupcakes, there really hasnt been anything I've missed, up until a few weeks ago when I was asked to make a few dozen Chocolate Chip & Oatmeal cookies. Maaaan did that hit a craving that I wasnt expecting! So, when I got my last Christmas orders out and I found a little time back, I made a batch of GF Chocolate Chip and GF Oatmeal cookies and when I tell you these were BETTER than the regular versions, I mean they were BET-TER! I couldn't believe it (and neither could my taste-testers! π)
So, if you've made it this far, I appreciate you stickin with me! But, would ask, is there any GF version of something you'd like to see made or would like to try?! Ive got a few things on my list already, but again, I love a good challenge!
Here's to 2026! π₯πͺπ§
