I want to address a few things because I have a minute today. Warning: slight rant incoming.
First, yes, we currently bake from our home. We are a LICENSED cottage bakery. We had to go through a meticulous application, including submitting ingredient labels, water testing, walk them through our cleaning process and a kitchen inspection. That being said, we work VERY clean. Every dish and utensil is cleaned in between EVERY use, and we use gloves and parchment paper on our cookie sheets. We ALSO use a commerical commisary kitchen sometimes. We're actually currently working towards becoming fully commercial.
Second, our pricing. I've addressed it before and this probably won't be the last time, but we can't afford to not price things the way we do. We bake specialty items with high quality ingredients. We pay the SAME prices that you do at the store. Buying in bulk isn't an option for us because we don't use credit or loans. We spend what we earn. We have bills to pay in our personal lives but we also have to pay for our shop rent, employee payments, gas for deliveries, market booth spaces, packaging, labeling etc. If you don't like the prices, that's totally okay! We understand if you don't shop with us!
Third, we're a SMALL business. TWO of us bake. We don't use big machines, we're not a factory. Therefore, mistakes can be made. Sometimes we might have over/undercooked items. It's not often but it's possible! We're NOT perfect and we don't claim to be! If you have an issue with a product you buy, let us know and WE WILL fix it! We will remake it or refund you. Leaving a bad review from a one time problem can destroy someone's business, so it should be first instinct to actually contact the business in question first to try to get a resolution.
We're working hard, not just to support my entire family, but to build a brand that people love and trust. It comes fully from our hearts.
Thanks for listening to the rants of a tired mom.
With love, Laura.
