Spencerport Free Food Pantry

Spencerport Free Food Pantry This is the home of the Spencerport Village Community Little Free Food Pantry located at 222 S. Union It is not owned by any one person or entity.

Our community free food stand is a shared asset of the entire Spencerport and Ogden community. Shared resources must be loved and respected in order to thrive. Please follow these guidelines:
1. Give what you have, take what you need/want - this is not a resource only for people "in need", rather it is akin to sharing a cup of sugar with a neighbor. It is in a spirit of neighborly love that we share.
2. Everyone's health and safety is critically important -as such, please do not donate expired (or very nearly expired) items, nor items that are open or used. The caretakers must sort through all of these items and spend time emptying and recycling those that are old or opened to be sure no one gets sick from our donations. Please help with this effort by recycling/trashing these items yourself.
3. Leave the stand the same or better than you found it. Please do not leave it in disarray after you have looked through the available items. If you knock it over, stand it back up. If you move it but don't take it, put it back where you found it. If you're dropping off donations, please leave them in the bin (however, fresh produce and baked items can be neatly placed on the top shelf, which is vented for freshness).
4. Lastly, food is love - give and take in this spirit!

Good evening, friends and neighbors… It’s me, your friendly, neighborhood Little Free Food Pantry! We have a hefty load of cucumbers on my top shelf right now for the taking, so please stop by! And we also have quite a lot of canned veggies, soups, and pasta!

If you’re looking to donate and wondering what I need, I am always looking for donations for the middle shelf, which primarily consists of hot and cold cereals, shelf stable milk/milk alternatives, baking goods, canned fruit, baby supplies (food, formula, diapers), and hygiene supplies!

And in case you’ve seen my buddy, Marty, the owl, sitting atop my roof, he’s here because I had some squirrels interested in trying to break in. They broke in successfully once and attacked a bag of potato flakes, but since that time have not been successful… I think maybe Marty has kept them away! I never want anyone to hurt my little furry friends, but I don’t want them invading my shelves, so Marty has been a great partner!

Remember, food is love! 💚💚💚

So much good stuff on my shelves, neighbors!! Come check it all out! Food is love! 💚💚💚

Good morning, friends and neighbors! I love when the generosity of our community is apparent! Thank you to all who have been donating! My shelves have lots of variety, including in my hygiene section, where a kind neighbor donated soap sacks complete with a bar of soap in each! Come explore what my shelves have in store! And remember…food is love! 💚💚💚

Good morning, friends and neighbors… Once again, thank you for all your generosity! We love to see the coming together of community at the shelves!

We often are asked what the most needed or wanted items are. Here are some great ideas, along with some things to avoid!

Most needed/wanted:
- baking goods: flour, baking soda/powder, sugar, spices
- breakfast items: cereals, shelf stable milks, canned fruits, boxed muffins, pancake mix, oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat
- pasta, sauce, boxed mac and cheese, canned tomatoes, tomato paste, savory spices
- proteins: canned tuna, meats, salmon, beans. Dry lentils, other beans, nuts and seeds.

And here are some things to avoid:
Non-food items like home decor, clothing, toys, trinkets, stuffed animals, and crafting supplies, etc. While we do accept hygiene products and home cleaning supplies, all other non-food items should be donated elsewhere. Leaving these other items takes up precious space that we use for critical needs. There is a good chance it will end up in the garbage, so please donate to Goodwill, the church donation bin on Amity St, or similar.

Thanks to each and every one of you for coming and giving life to the Little Food Pantry! We don’t exist with you! And remember..Food is Love! 💚💚💚

Good morning, friends and neighbors! There are some fun goodies on my shelves right now, including snacks! Stop on by and try something new!

I also just want to remind everybody that this community resource should be one that we treat with dignity and respect. This includes not donating things that are partially or almost completely eaten or used. We have had a significant increase in donations lately of half-bags of food or half-containers of hygiene supplies… Even including an almost completely empty package of something.

Just like we wouldn’t want to go to the grocery store and find items that were half eaten on the shelves, those using the food stand aren’t interested in something that’s already been opened and potentially tampered with.

If you would like to give away something like that, you can use the community gifting with gratitude (formerly Buy Nothing) platform, where folks can know where it comes from.

We thank you for all of your generosity and care. Thank you for respecting our little free food pantry and all of the lovely neighbors who use it!
