❤️ TODAY IS THE DAY! ❤️

Join us today at Burritt College in Spencer as our community comes together to raise up a fellow Van Buren County resident, Tabitha Denney, and remind her that she is not alone.

Tabitha was diagnosed with serious cardiac issues and underwent a heart transplant five years ago. Today, she is facing heart failure and remains courageously fighting for her life.

Tabitha is a thoughtful, generous, hardworking mother, grandmother, daughter, wife, and friend. She is the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone else. Now, it’s our turn to help carry her.

💕 And today, our community is coming together to do just that.

Join us for a day of food, fun, fellowship, raffles, auctions, and community support — all for a great cause!

Dolly represented a lot of different things to each of us, but especially to those of us who call Appalachia home.

Being born in California but raised in this beautiful place, I was exposed early on to outsiders’ opinions about our area and the people who come from it. And, as you can imagine, they didn’t think much of either.

As I grew older and became more confident in standing my ground about where I came from and the people who live here, Dolly was always my smoking gun. She proved to the world what those of us from these hills have always known.

Between the hollers, the dirt roads, and behind the smiles and twangy “y’alls” and “ain’ts,” there are good-hearted people. People who are ready to love, serve, and give everything they have.

Dolly showed the world that growing up dirt poor in a place often dismissed as uneducated doesn’t determine how far you can go. She showed the world the kind of tenacity that can only be forged in these hills.

As a little girl who grew up in a world that looked at women like Dolly and deemed them “bimbos,” she proved something even more important: people’s assumptions about you do not define who you are.

Thank you Dolly for forging paths for all of us 🦋
