Congratulations to our President & CEO, Hamp Lindsey, on his appointment to the Spartanburg Methodist College Board of Trustees.📚👏

This honor is especially meaningful because the Lindsey family’s connection to SMC began more than 100 years ago, when Hamp’s uncles, Jim and Drew Lindsey, attended what was then Textile Industrial Institute in 1924. They later inspired Hamp’s father, Wade Lindsey Sr., to make the journey from Alabama to attend the school himself. That education helped open doors that ultimately led to the founding of Wade’s Restaurant in 1947.

Now, more than a century after the Lindsey family’s first connection to the college, it’s a full-circle moment to see Hamp continue that legacy by helping shape the future of an institution that has changed so many lives.

At Wade’s, we’ve always believed that when you invest in people, you strengthen the entire community. We’re grateful for leaders like Hamp who continue to give back, and we’re proud of the partnership between Wade’s and Spartanburg Methodist College as we work together to help future generations thrive.

Today would have been Wade Lindsey’s 115th birthday.

When Wade and Betty Lindsey opened the doors to Wade’s Restaurant in 1947, they had great family recipes, a strong work ethic, and the determination to succeed. They could have never imagined that their little meat & three restaurant would become a Spartanburg landmark and, nearly 80 years later, continue serving generations of families.

From our original restaurant to our new concept, Wade's Jr., we’re honored to carry forward the traditions and values that Wade and Betty established all those years ago.

Please join us in remembering the man whose vision made it all possible. Happy 115th Birthday, Wade! Thank you for leaving us with a legacy that continues to delight guests every day.
