As owners of the Sparta Tasty Treat we want to let the Sparta community know that the people who leased the business for the 2025 season have terminated their lease.
I know many of you were disappointed that you weren't able to visit the Tasty Treat you knew and loved and buy the ice cream products you were used to getting for decades. We made the decision this season to give others a chance to be inventive and change up the business model and they have now decided to close, we apologize for that.

Running a small business is both rewarding and exasperating. We grew up in Sparta ourselves, graduated from the Sparta school system and always prided ourselves in the hiring of people from the community in our shop. For the majority of the employees the Tasty Treat was their first work experience and they were always paid a fair wage. Small businesses are struggling right now. Please buy local when possible from businesses owned by your neighbors and friends.

The Tasty Treat and connected house are still for sale. We welcome any interest there may be from someone wanting to keep this Sparta institution alive. Thank you for your loyalty, Sparta will always be a part of our family.
