It is with the deepest sorrow that we have to tell you that our store is now closed and will not open it’s door again.
We want to thank our customers that has made all the long hours and hardships worth it. Thank you very much for supporting our business and becoming our friends over all these years.

It is with a very heavy heart that I must tell you all that this store will close before the end of September. Since The begging of July we have had three offers to buy the store, but all three people have backed out. We are out of energy and patience.
As soon as we sell all of our ice cream inventory we will be done. Believe me when I say that we are very very sorry to close this store. Within the next 2-3 weeks will be your last chance to have Marble Slab Creamery ice cream.

As if dealing with Marvels brain cancer isn't enough, we came to our store this morning and found all of our tables and chairs gone. I am sure that the property Managers KIMCO came and removed them in an apparent effort to clean up the property.
We have nowhere for our customers to sit!!!! We are going to lose thousands in business because of this. We can't afford to buy more because we are saving every dime we can for alternative treatments for Marvels brain cancer.
We have someone that has agreed to buy the store and this may cause them to back out and that will cost us tens of thousands of dollars.
I hope that the community will be as outraged by this as we are.

Thanks to these girls, BLAST FROM THE PAST was a great success.
We had our biggest single day in sales since before the economic collapse of 2008. During the event the girls raised $741 for Marvels GoFundMe account. The community of Reno/Sparks truly is a loving and generous community. Everyone should share this post so the entire Country can know what a great community we live in.

BLAST FROM THE PAST!!!!
The first job ever for these girls was Marble Slab Creamery. We watched these girls mature, graduate High School, and become young women in charge of their own lives. Years later they want to help us out.
Tonight these beautiful ladies will donate their time and work the store from 5PM until people stop coming sometime around 10PM? They are also generously donating all their tips to marvels gofundme.
Come in and see how these girls have matured into women and support Marvel and our store.

As the owners of the Marble Slab Creamery in Sparks we have come to the very sad realization that we can no longer handle the stress of brain cancer and business ownership. Marvel needs the opportunity to be around family and enjoy the life that she has remaining. We will be closing the Marble Slab Creamery at the end of the Summer unless a buyer can be found. I will sell the store for the absolute minimum that I can.
40 thousand dollars is the absolute lowest we are willing to accept. If there are no offers for that then we will close it and sell all the equipment.
The equipment in the store store can be auctioned off for 20-30k. The price of 40k for the business is a steal so it will be sold as is. If you or someone you know is interested please message me or come buy the store during business hours. If we are not there just leave contact information with our Employees.

If you have been a long time customer you will recognize these girls. We just went to dinner with them and they want to work at the store together for old times sake. So on Saturday July 8th these ladies will work the evening shift until close!
Rikki, Megan, and Kristina. These girls started working at the Marble Slab Creamery for Marvel when they were 15 years old. They are now 26, 27, and 28 years old. We love these girls.

RTC, Granite Construction, Pyramid McCarran project, and Shannon Anne Moore from Channel 8 was just here. A person that wished to remain anonymous brought a check for $500 to the Granite Construction office and asked to use it to buy ice cream from us. Another person brought a check for $1000 to Channel 8 to donate to to Marvel Hess. That person also wanted to remain anonymous.
The community has really been fantastic to us and we appreciate it very much.

After Shannon finished the interview she asked me to send her some pictures. I emailed the her the pictures used in the story but I also emailed her what I wanted to say on camera but was simply to chocked up to spit it out. Here is what I sent her.

I will write down what I really wanted to say to you today during the interview but just couldn't get out.
Our Marriage is not perfect. We don't always get along and sometimes we fight. The business was always a good reason to fight because it took so much of our time that we did not get enough time together.
When we got the diagnosis of the brain tumor and the prognosis of two years, my world came crashing down. You see, when you get this diagnosis and prognosis, you quickly realize what you are going to lose and what has really been important the entire time. My whole world is my wife. Without her I lose my best friend, lover, and the person that has taken care of my every need. The center of my life is being slowly taken away and it is painfull.
No marriage will ever be perfect but you had better enjoy that person you are with at all times. You never know when tragedy will strike and that person that is the center of your world will be gone. My wife is not perfect but she loves me, puts up with me, and takes care of me. I miss her so bad and yet she is laying next to me right now. I pray to God to take the pain away because sometimes it is to much.
I will cherish every last minute that God gives us together.

Thank you again for taking an interest in us and helping us out.

Sincerely,
Craig Mickel
