Today, we celebrate the life of Dee (pictured to the right of John).
Dee dedicated more than four decades of her life to Shippy's, becoming a beloved part of our family and the countless memories made within these walls.
When John purchased Shippy's in 2022, Dee greeted him with a smile and said, "You don't remember me." What followed was an incredible full-circle moment. Nearly 50 years earlier, John had hired Dee for her very first job at the McDonald's just down the road in Southampton. Half a century later, their paths crossed again at Shippy's.
Although Dee retired in 2022, she never stopped being part of the Shippy's family. She continued to cheer John and the team on as they began a new chapter for the restaurant. Up until recently, you could still find Dee behind Shippy's with her husband, lovingly feeding the neighborhood cats—a quiet act of kindness that reflected the caring person she was.
Dee's warmth, loyalty, and gentle spirit touched so many lives. She will always be a cherished part of Shippy's history, and her memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Rest in peace, Dee. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. ❤️
