25 years ago I was in 5th grade when the towers were hit and as a child who wasn’t directly impacted, I didn’t really understand the severity. Fast forward… now a mom, healthcare worker, and a wife to a FDNY fireman, I find myself even more emotional about this day.
•
My heart breaks thinking of the thousands of people who left their house never to return to their families, those last moments on the plane, the moment before the twin towers fell, and the first responders who sacrified everything. 343 fireman gave their life that day + hundreds more are suffering medically today. It’s extremely humbling and empowering for me to make sure my son understands the reason why we always remember + never forget. I will be holding on a little tighter + a little longer to my loved ones tonight.
