💔 A difficult update from Kindred Roots
I’m honestly not sure there’s an easy way to say this.
After last night’s Village Council meeting, the decision was made not to amend the current ordinance, which means Kindred Roots can no longer operate our farmstand as we have been.
To say I’m gutted would be an understatement.
My little stand became so much more than a place to sell baked goods. It was something My family and I built with our own hands. It was a dream we took a chance on. And most importantly, it became a place where we got to meet, serve, and connect with so many wonderful people in our community.
I am incredibly disappointed that the farmstand chapter has come to an end.
But this is NOT the end of Kindred Roots. Not even close. 🌱
Thankfully, I am still able to operate my cottage food business from my home, and I have no intention of giving up on what I’ve built.
Starting this weekend, I’ll be shifting to a small porch pickup/sales setup at home. I’ll continue offering your favorite sourdough breads, baked goods, and seasonal goodies — just directly from my home.
And while I may not fully understand why this door is closing right now, I truly believe God has a plan for Kindred Roots. I’ve seen too many little moments along this journey fall into place to believe that this is where the story ends. This may not be the path I expected, but I have faith that we’ll work through this, find our way forward, and come out stronger on the other side. ❤️
I also want to add: if you believe the current ordinance should be reconsidered, I strongly encourage you to reach out to the Village and let your voice be heard. Please do so respectfully and constructively. Whether you agree with the decision or not, community members deserve the opportunity to share their thoughts with the people making these decisions.
As for me?
I’m going to be disappointed. I’m going to be sad. But then I’m going to get back in the kitchen.
Because Kindred Roots was never just a shed in my yard.
It’s the people. It’s the community. It’s the love that goes into every baked good. And that isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
Thank you to every single person who supported me, showed up, shared a post, bought a loaf, attended a meeting, sent a kind message, or simply told me to keep going.
You have no idea what that support has meant to me.
The stand may be closing, but Kindred Roots is still here. We’re still baking. We’re still growing. And we’re not done yet. 🌱❤️

A paper petition will be ready to sign as well. You can message me and we can coordinate that as well ❤️
