Mugsy's Pizza Plus

We have what could be good, or bad news about Mugsy's, depending upon your perspective.
Over the last 2 weeks our sales averages have been up to the point where we are covering all of our expenses. This is great news. The problem is it's taken us over 4 months to get here. It has caused our financial position to be slightly precarious. With all the hurdles we have overcome, location, prior owners reputation, etc., we have still proven that our product is good, and that we can sell good food, at a reasonable price, and build repeat business.
Our newest hurdle is again concerning our location. As many of you know, we have an AC, and cooling problem here in the restaurant. We have an AC put in for a Jewelery store. We lease this building, and our landlord announced this weekend he is no longer going to maintain the property. We have had past problems with him, and found out a couple of months ago that he has planned all along to let us build up the business, and then try and force us out so that he could just slide in, take over, and run the place for himself. He has even made the comment that he was going to use the Mugsy's name, logo, and branding, although he plans on doing everything on the cheap. Pop from the dollar store, ingredients from Wal-Mart, and Food Fair, etc.
We are not going to allow this to happen. We have worked too hard, and invested too much money to allow the Mugsy's brand to be destroyed. So we have decided to try and move. We are looking at several properties right now, but the most promising seems to be The Kyova Mall. I am meeting with the owner tomorrow. It may not be the perfect solution, but I am hearing good things about what's going on out there. As soon as I know something solid, I'll pass on the news.
To accomplish this, though we are looking to take on some investors. We are going to need capital infusion to make the move, and advertise the fact that we are in a new location.
I have mixed feelings about relocating, but I know a higher traffic area will help, and the bottom line is we can no longer remain where we are. I'll close permanently before I let the landlord sell one item under the Mugsy's name.
The investment opportunity is strong. We have plans to open multiple locations in the next few years, and are hoping to explore the possibility of franchising the name after that. I believe our product is strong enough to support these plans.

Hi all friends of Mugsy's. Just a note to let every one know, we had some of our best days yet at the beginning of the month, and we appreciate everyone's business. Our comments from our customers remain very positive, as a matter of fact one customer posted that we have the best pizza in the Tri-State.
For all of you that haven't tried it yet we have introduced a "Philly Cheesesteak Pizza". I know I'm biased, but it may be the best pizza I have ever eaten. It was put together by my 2 guys that work with me Ian Gillum, and David Reed. Geniuses, they are!
So give us a call, or better yet come in and see us again, we're always happy to see you come through the door, and don't forget to tell your friends about us. That's the best advertising we can have.

Update on Mugsy's:
We're doing better! We're still not breathing above the water line yet, but I did some new advertising, and may have found a reed to suck air through!! We also have adjusted our pricing on our Pizza. Any Lg 18" $15.00, any med, $10.00, any small, $7.00 Any toppings. Please come check us out. Don't let the corporate giant Pizza Hut beat us with an inferior product because it's cheaper!!

To all our friends who like Mugsy's, and enjoy our food Thank You. We have had lots of comments from people telling us it's great Pizza, great Sandwiches, etc. Unfortunately it's not translating into business, and it looks like, barring a miracle, that we will be closing soon. Patsy have put our heart, soul, and plenty of money into the restaurant. We have done more advertising than a lot of startup companies do, and with the comments we receive from people, we can't figure out what we did wrong. We have had a couple of comments that our prices were too high, but we are less expensive on every item than Giovanni's, and we have been running specials since the day we opened. We weren't told about the bad reputation that the previous occupants of the property had developed until a month ago, but after 2 1/2 months you would think people would know we are not Wards anymore. So again we're back to, " I don't know". I understand all businesses take time to get going, but we are not seeing the increase in sales over time. We had a good Friday 3 weeks ago where we actually broke $600.00 for the day. We thought we had turned the corner, maybe we would have a week in which we could at least pay our bills. We have broken the $300.00 mark since. Most days we are under $200.00 for the day. Yesterday, and today, we wont reach $100.00 in sales. We can't even pay the rent, and utilities at these levels, much less labor, and food replacement. Anyway, that is not any of you guys problem, it's mine as the business owner, I just wanted everyone to know that when we do close, please understand, it wasn't because we just blew money, or didn't manage the restaurant correctly. We just can't get people through the door. Those of you that have supported us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I wish we could have stayed around longer to serve you what I believe is the best Pizza, and best Sandwich in not only the Tri-State, but anywhere. Good luck in the future.
