THE SHOPS AT HEAVENLY VILLAGE JOINS EL DORADO HILLS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Lake Tahoe’s #1 destination expands regional business relationships and strengthens ties to one of South Lake Tahoe’s most important drive markets

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — September 24th, 2026
— The Shops at Heavenly Village announced today that it has joined the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce, expanding its regional business relationships and tourism outreach along the Highway 50 corridor and into one of South Lake Tahoe’s most important Northern California drive markets.

The decision reflects a deliberate effort by Heavenly Village leadership to align with organizations that demonstrate active support for businesses, tourism and economic development.

Village leadership said it has been particularly impressed by the El Dorado Hills Chamber’s proactive approach to supporting and promoting its members, including its recent engagement involving Alcohol Beverage Control licensing matters. The Chamber’s willingness
to advocate for businesses in South Lake Tahoe and its understanding of tourism and the economic connection between El Dorado County, the Highway 50 corridor and South Lake Tahoe helped make the partnership a natural fit.

“We have been very impressed with the El Dorado Hills Chamber, its leadership and the way it supports and promotes its business community,” said Gary Casteel of Trans-Sierra Investments / The Shops at Heavenly Village. “They understand that strong businesses create
strong communities, and they recognize the importance of tourism and regional partnerships. El Dorado Hills is an extremely important market for South Lake Tahoe, and we believe there is tremendous opportunity to work together.”

The move also represents a broader shift in Heavenly Village leadership’s approach to chamber participation. Village leadership has not maintained membership for years with the Tahoe Chamber organization, citing concerns over what it views as insufficient advocacy and engagement on business performance, tourism, lodging, and economic growth important to the Village and its tenants. Furthermore, their support for anti-tourism/overtourism initiatives with the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority don't align with the village.

“This was a very intentional and strategic decision,” said Dreu Murin, spokesperson for The Shops at Heavenly Village. “We have been impressed with what we have seen from the El Dorado Hills Chamber. They support their businesses, promote their community and understand
tourism. That is the type of relationship we want to build on.”

Murin said chamber membership should represent far more than simply paying annual dues or having a business listed in a directory.

“Businesses need organizations that actively advocate for them, engage with their members and understand the economic realities facing tourism-dependent communities,” Murin added. “We want to invest our time and resources with organizations that are willing to engage, collaborate and stand up for businesses at both the local and state levels. The El Dorado Hills Chamber has demonstrated that kind of leadership and commitment.”

The partnership will also strengthen Heavenly Village’s direct connection with residents and businesses throughout El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Sacramento and the broader Highway 50 corridor, communities that represent a critical drive market for South Lake Tahoe
that has been overlooked and taken for granted by local marketing agencies.

“Tourism does not begin when someone crosses the South Lake Tahoe city limits,” Casteel added. “It begins in the communities where our visitors live that we need to market to. El Dorado Hills sits along the gateway to Lake Tahoe, and developing stronger relationships
with the people and businesses in that corridor is smart tourism, smart marketing and good for the entire South Lake Tahoe economy. We want people on the Western slope to know Lake Tahoe welcomes them to visit anytime, and let them know we are open for business.”

Heavenly Village invests substantial resources each year in events, entertainment, marketing and promotions designed to attract visitors to South Lake Tahoe, extend stays, provide unmatched guest experience, encourage repeat visitation and generate economic activity for local businesses.

The Village expects its El Dorado Hills Chamber membership to create new opportunities for cross-promotion, networking, tourism partnerships and direct engagement throughout the region.

MASSIVE TURNOUT FILLS HEAVENLY VILLAGE FOR MEXICO INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
Hundreds gather in the heart of South Lake Tahoe for an evening celebrating Mexican culture, music, community and tradition

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — September 18th, 2026
— Heavenly Village came alive as a massive crowd of residents and visitors gathered for a vibrant Mexico Independence Day celebration, creating another major night of activity in the heart of South Lake Tahoe.

The Village was packed with families, visitors and community members enjoying an evening celebrating Mexican heritage and culture through music, entertainment, food and a festive atmosphere. The tremendous turnout transformed Heavenly Village into a colorful community gathering and demonstrated the strong demand for diverse cultural programming in South Lake Tahoe.

“What an incredible turnout,” said Dreu Murin, event producer and spokesperson for Heavenly Village. “Seeing Heavenly Village packed with families and people from throughout our community celebrating together was exactly what this event is about. Mexico Independence
Day is an important celebration for so many members of our community, and we were proud to provide a place where everyone could come together, enjoy the evening and celebrate Mexican culture and tradition.”

Gary Casteel of Trans-Sierra Investments, owner of The Shops at Heavenly Village, said the turnout is another clear example of why events and tourism remain critical to South Lake Tahoe’s economy.

“Tourism is the number one economic engine of South Lake Tahoe, and we cannot take it for granted, as we believe that is what has happened with our regional marketing firm responsible for driving tourism, the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority,” Casteel said. “When you
see Heavenly Village filled with people for an event like this, you are seeing the value of locals and tourism working together in real time. Those visitors are staying in our hotels, eating in our restaurants, shopping in our stores and supporting local jobs.
If we want a strong local economy, we have to continue giving people compelling reasons to choose South Lake Tahoe.”

Casteel added that investing in events is particularly important as the destination works to generate visitation outside its traditional peak periods.

“We have to compete for visitors every single day,” Casteel continued. “People have choices about where they travel and where they spend their money. Events create another reason to choose Tahoe while providing a great guest experience that keeps them coming back.
The tremendous attendance we have seen at Heavenly Village over the past several weeks demonstrates what can happen when we consistently create experiences that bring people into our community.”

The strong attendance continued a remarkable stretch of successful programming at Heavenly Village. Following the recent Midway Arts & Music Festival over Labor Day weekend and the sold-out Fall AleFest & Chicken Wing Cook-Off, the Mexico Independence Day celebration once again generated significant pedestrian traffic throughout the Village and surrounding businesses.

“Three major events in a matter of weeks have produced tremendous crowds at Heavenly Village,” Murin added. “That is not an accident. Quality events, combined with our amazing local talent, give people another reason to visit South Lake Tahoe, stay longer, support
our restaurants and retailers, and experience the destination beyond our traditional peak periods. Just as importantly, events like Mexico Independence Day give our local community an opportunity to come together and celebrate. I only wish more of our local leaders who are quick to offer opinions about tourism and events would actually attend, experience these events firsthand and see their impact for themselves, rather than forming opinions from afar.”

Heavenly Village continues to expand its year-round calendar of festivals, concerts, cultural celebrations and family-oriented programming designed to create memorable experiences for visitors and residents while supporting the South Lake Tahoe economy.

The overwhelming response to the Mexico Independence Day celebration further reinforces Heavenly Village’s role as the #1 destination in Lake Tahoe and premier gathering place for community events and entertainment.
