Dear friends,
We started to write the usual “it is with deep sadness that we announce the closure of the brick-and-mortar “Champlain Islands Candy Lab” and “Lola’s Latin Kitchen.”
That statement, however, would be completely false. We spent five glorious years doing exactly what we wanted to do: cooking food we love; honoring the people we love by keeping their recipes alive; and making new lifetime friends.
Regarding our food, we are going out at the top of our game: critical success from reviewers and a recommendation from FOOD AND WINE MAGAZINE!!
The truth is, despite our food, our foot traffic never returned to what it was before COVID and we don’t see that changing any time soon.
And for those of you who are tearing up at the thought of missing our food, dry those eyes. Lola’s Latin Kitchen will be serving her famous enchiladas at the Champlain Islands Farmers’ Market this summer!
And one last happy note to those of you still fighting back tears. Keep those eyes and ears open. We’re pretty certain South Hero’s most innovative, welcoming, and musical venue will pop up now and again. Follow us on Facebook and InstaGram for updates.
