The Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District has confirmed a new detection of West Nile virus (WNV) in South Gate.

The candidate nomination period began Monday, July 13, 2026, and closes Friday, August 7, 2026. Individuals interested in running for office may pick up nomination paperwork from the City Clerk’s Office Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Although City Hall is normally closed on Fridays, the City Clerk’s Office will be open on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., for the final day of the nomination period.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT- ATLANTIC AVENUE SEWER REPAIR

What is this project?
This project is repairing approximately 6,300 feet of sewer in the cities of South Gate and Cudahy. The limits within South Gate are from Salt Lake Avenue to Michigan Avenue. The work began in Spring 2026 and it’s anticipated to be completed in Fall 2026.

What can you expect?
This week, pipeline rehabilitation will occur at the intersection of Firestone Blvd and Atlantic Ave. Traffic delays are be expected.

Overnight work will begin Monday, July 13 from 7:00 pm - 6:00 and its anticipated to be completed by Thursday, July 16.

A new utility payment portal is coming August 3, 2026! 💳

The City of South Gate is launching a new, improved online payment system designed to make paying your utility bill faster, easier, and more convenient.

Current AutoPay customers: Please note that you will need to re-enroll beginning July 15, 2026, as payment information cannot be transferred to the new system for security reasons.

The new portal will include:
• AutoPay with checking account, debit card, or credit card
• Apple Pay & Google Pay
• Paperless billing (e-billing)
• Secure payment information storage
• One-time payments
• Access from your computer, tablet, or smartphone

Also known as the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), the report is a comprehensive overview that includes details about where water comes from, what it contains, and how it compares to State standards.
