Ladies and Gentleman --
It is with very heavy hearts that we are forced to announce we are closing Legit Dogs and Ice. Our last day of operations will be August 24th.
We apologize, but at this time, we cannot go into great detail for specifics. As many of you have supported us over the years and followed us on our journey, we have always tried to be a positive force in the community. We’ve always tried to be vocal and transparent about the good times and the bad. We have always operated on the belief that a successful business and its owners could share the truth and maintain a sense of morality, while building good relationships with a community, its leaders & residents, and with fellow business owners.
We have fought and struggled for years to re-open the doors of Legit Dogs and Ice. At this new location, we have gone to great lengths to make our business model 100% transparent to municipal officials and the public; evidenced by submitted and documented plans. Our model includes our restaurant and bar, our stage platform, our free arcade games, our pursuit of video gaming (gambling machines), and live, ticketed events & shows. We have stood publicly and on-record in numerous, official Village of South Elgin forums, stating our intent, operations and logistics. We were approved and awarded a renewal of our valid liquor license, and awarded a 2am (late-night)/ticketed event rider. We then proceeded to operate our business under a publicly agreed-upon set of parameters, regarding these operations.
We have attempted to make every accommodation imaginable in order to satisfy any on-going requests or demands from the municipality, at considerable expense.
We have always been a family-oriented hot-dog joint, that incorporates amazing homemade food, music, arcade games, events and sarcasm into it’s model. Our model has remained the same as the original Legit Dogs and Ice, as it does at this new location. We continued to host events and shows, while operating a full-bar, while trying to incorporate common-sense and humor into our day-to-day operations. It remains an amazing, unique concept, which we built by hand, with the help of family, friends and supporters. We’ve always attempted to remain an independent and positive addition to the local community.
So in closing, this is the absolute end-of-the-road for us, regarding pursuing any type of restaurant or business. It has been a long, strange journey, but that journey has come to it’s finality. We are proud of what we have built over the years. All we can do is say thank you to our supporters; you have always been amazing. To all of our haters, we are happy to have obliged. If you have the time, please visit us on our last Kamikaze run to August. 24th. We could really use the support as we try to sell off the products we still have in storage.
Thank you for everything.
