Today, take a moment to reflect.

Memorial Day is not simply about flags, cookouts, or a long weekend. It is about people. The men and women of our military, law enforcement, and first responder communities who gave pieces of themselves and in many cases, gave everything so the rest of us could live with freedom, safety, and opportunity.

Today is not about celebrating a country as much as it is about honoring the lives that helped build and protect it.

Behind every uniform was a human being. Someone’s child. Someone’s spouse. Someone’s parent. Someone who mattered deeply to the people left behind.

No matter our backgrounds, beliefs, or differences, gratitude should unite us today.

May we remember them with respect.
May we speak their names with love.
And may we never take their sacrifices for granted.

I just wanted to let everyone know that Songbird Sourdough will be taking Memorial Day weekend off.

Life has really kicked me in the behind the past couple of weeks, and sometimes you have to step away from the dough bowls and spend time where it matters most. My husband will be having surgery, and right now my focus needs to be on him, my family, and soaking up time with the people I love.

One of my lifelong friends will also be home for a week with her mom so they can visit family, and honestly… I need that time too.

Thank you all for supporting this little business through the chaos, the exhaustion, the flour explosions, and every season in between. It means more than you know.

Before I disappear for the weekend, you can still find me tomorrow at the Dighton Farmers Market from 10 AM–2 PM behind Town Hall on Route 138. Come stock up on bread, bagels, muffins, cookies, and all the fermented goodness since I won’t be around next weekend. AND…I’ll have cinnamon rolls.

👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻Also, starting Friday, May 22, fresh Classic Artisan and Everything But the Bagel loaves will be available weekends at Johnson's Roadside Farm Market.

👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻And lastly the Swansea Farmers Market kicks off its season Sunday May 31, and yes… I’ll absolutely be there.
