After a very full and very sweet wedding season, I’m officially taking October off. 🤍

This season, I had the privilege of baking for 29 weddings, along with so many birthdays, showers, celebrations, and everything in between. I’m incredibly grateful to every person who trusted me to make something for a day that mattered to them.

Now I’m trading the cake boxes and buttercream for suitcases and some much-needed time traveling with my family.

Sugar Mountain Cupcakes will be closed for the entire month of October. I won’t be taking orders or answering business messages while I’m away. I’ll be back in November and will begin responding to messages and inquiries once I return.

Thank you for such an amazing wedding season and for continuing to support this little home bakery of mine. I feel very fortunate to get to do this work, and I’m equally grateful for the chance to step away for a bit and be with my family.

The sweetest little Homer elopement 🤍

Congratulations, Miah & Matt! It was such a privilege getting to play a small part in your day.

This wedding came together as part of an Alaskan elopement giveaway, and seeing what Casey at Alaska Wedding & Newborn Photographer and Ty & TJ at Alaska Wedding Videographer created for these two was pretty incredible. So much thought and work went into giving Miah & Matt an experience that felt personal to them while still being so distinctly Alaska. From the setting at WestWind Cabins to all of the little details throughout the day, they really made this one special.

I got to contribute the cake, a two-tier textured buttercream design with fresh white florals and red velvet hiding underneath. And can we talk about that absolutely unreal charcuterie spread from the one and only Lucy's Market?!

This is the kind of Alaska wedding that’s hard to forget. Intimate, personal, a little wild, and surrounded by some seriously beautiful scenery. So grateful I got to be a small part of it. 🤍

A little vintage, a little romantic, and made to match the moment 🤍

Jesseline came to me with a few different inspiration ideas for her branding session, and we worked together to pull our favorite details into one design. We chose this soft green palette to coordinate with her suit, then added vintage piping and subtle buttercream florals to bring it all together.

I’m so happy with how this one turned out. Seeing the whole look come together has been so fun. ✨

There’s something extra special about getting to bake for someone you love. 🤍

My dear friend Molly got married, and I had the absolute honor of not only standing beside her as a bridesmaid, but making the cake and cupcakes for her wedding day.

And in true best-friend fashion, she gave me basically no direction 😂 She trusted me completely with the flavors, designs, and all the little details—which made creating everything for her that much more special.

Her cutting cake was a 6” dairy-free vanilla bean cake with raspberry filling, surrounded by six cupcake flavors: Oreo, vanilla, chocolate, lemon cheesecake, Reese’s, and dark chocolate raspberry.

Also, turns out it is VERY entertaining to actually be at a wedding when the cupcakes come out. 😂 I’m usually long gone by that point, so getting to watch everyone swarm the cake table had me thinking, ohhhh, so this is what happens after I leave.

But truly, the best part was getting to watch one of my dearest friends marry her best friend. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Molly so happy, and it was the most amazing day. 🤍

Congratulations, Molly. I love you, and I’m so grateful I got to be part of it all. 🥂

It’s all about the details.

Absolutely obsessed with how this enchanted forest fairy-door cake turned out. 🍄✨

Beneath the woodland magic is a 6-inch dark chocolate cake layered with thick gooey cookie dough filling and finished with rich triple chocolate buttercream.

This design pushed me well outside my comfort zone—in the best way. I learned how to make edible cake moss, handcrafted chocolate mushrooms, and realistic chocolate tree bark, all to bring this little forest scene to life.

One of my favorite parts of cake design is being handed complete creative freedom and seeing where inspiration takes me. This one felt less like a cake and more like a tiny storybook world.

Quite possibly my favorite creation to date.

And perhaps that’s because the sweetest cakes aren’t defined by what’s inside them, but by who they’re made for.

This cake tastes like the first warm weekend of summer ☀️Fluffy lemon pistachio cake layers soaked with homemade lemon syrup, filled with silky lemon curd and raspberry swirl, then wrapped in vanilla bean buttercream and the dreamiest raspberry vanilla bean yogurt whipped cream frosting.

Light, tangy, pillowy, and honestly SO good.

And I won’t gate keep — the yogurt whip frosting recipe isn’t mine, but it is epically amazing and ridiculously easy to make.

Recipe basics:
• equal parts the fattiest plain Greek yogurt and heavy whipping cream you can find. About 250g each.
• 100g powdered sugar
(I always do a little less and I like real granulated sugar better!)
• 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
• blended freeze dried raspberries to a powder & strain out the seeds.
• optional secret weapon: 1/2 tsp sodium citrate.
Stabilizes the whipped cream helps it keep its thick fluffy texture.

Whip everything together cold until fluffy.
That’s basically it. ☁️ 🍋

Mother’s Day is feeling extra special this year. Being Winter’s mom is truly my favorite thing in the world. I feel so grateful for this season of life and for the little girl who made me a mom.
