No rain is going to keep us down! It’s always sunny in Smyrna. I’ve been hard at work since early this morning, making lasagna and cabbage rolls so I don’t have time to spend on the socials. But I’ll call out one special that you must try: the Jerusalem artichoke lasagna. The inside is creamy and lemony. The sunchoke drizzle atop is a wonderful earth compliment. It’s rich while not being too heavy for our summer months.

Gotta get back to it. These cabbages aren’t going to stuff themselves!

The next few months of Sundays at Gather are chock-full of ticketed events. So we created this little graphic to help with what Sundays are closed and which are events. After we get through these, we will update you all on what our Sunday schedule will be.

Nights like what’s ahead are made for outdoor music and dining! Our friends Eli Roe are here to help lull you into a false sense of security. Our food is here to fill your tummies with real ingredients from local farms. Our cock/mocktails are giving good vibes and big-city flavors. And our small town atmosphere is gonna provide you with feel-good moments before we release you into the noisome daily grind.

Come to Smyrna, kick back, stay awhile, and make new friends!

Who has two thumbs and overslept her alarm by 3 hours? Whose husband didn’t wake her up, assuming she “must have needed the rest?” Who is now woefully behind in prep? THIS GIRL RIGHT HERE.

Rest assured I’ll have 90% finished on time but the cabbage may have to be the sacrificial lamb until tomorrow. I have a salad idea to replace it though so you’ll still have many amazing choices.

In the meantime, if you’re anywhere near Ionia, plan to get away from the crowds by heading to Smyrna. Best food in the area!

Gotta get back to cooking! More pics later!

All right, here’s a little late night preview of a few of the weekend desserts. Yeah, I meant to post it earlier but I got behind with other prep.

Anyone who says they don’t like cantaloupe has to try this ice cream. The combination of honey, melon, and sea salt is truly unreal. Both Ash and I were floored when we taste-tested the mixture.

Then we have Ashlie’s magic trifle, made with local blueberries and crushed cookies and lemony cheesecake filling. It’s simply beautiful and definitely tasty.

And don’t forget our homemade peach marshmallow s’mores! Plus we will have sweet corn ice cream and a dairy-free coconut mango ice cream that is served with a mango purée enhanced with Thai basil that gives it a perfect herbal kick.

All this amazing produce (excepting the mangos) comes from farms within just a few miles of our place: Black Fox Farm, Paulson’s Pumpkin Patch, and Full Hollow Farm. Eat local, support local, grow local!

And be sure to save room for dessert this weekend. We will post dinner specials tomorrow. Sweet dreams!

Calling All Kindred Spirits!

Anne’s tea event is filling up fast. There are SEVENTEEN TICKETS LEFT. September 27th at 3pm.

Do you love Anne of Green Gables as much as we do? Did you imagine Gibert Blythe would fall in love with you someday? Did you read too much poetry and Victorian literature as an adolescent and imagine wasting of consumption? Do you still view the world as a place of beauty?

If any of these apply to you, join us for an afternoon tea. There will be flower crowns with farmidlewild. We will of course have raspberry cordial. Puffed sleeves are mandatory dress code. Cakes. Cucumber sandwiches. Recitations. Trivia. Memories.

Did you remember that Idlewild was the name given to the enchanted woods where Diana and Anne built their secret world? That only proves it was kismet that Heather would move here and create her own Idlewild and become my friend so we could bring this event to life.

Don’t miss your chance to celebrate LM Montgomery’s fantastic characters with other Friends of Anne. Details for reserving your spot are in the image or on our website under “events,” www.gatherinsmyrna.com.

Who is ready to dine with the gods, heroes, and legends of Mt. Olympus? Join us for our next dining experience, which dives into the food and myths of Ancient Greece. These events are where storytelling and fine dining meet, over 3ish hours of small plates with customized cocktails and a thoughtfully curated w**e list unique to the evening.

The dinner is being held Saturday and Sunday, 03/04 October. Currently, we have ONE seat left for Saturday and TWELVE seats left for Sunday. If we fill them up, we are considering doing a test run on Friday that would feature only the food as we test dishes but none of the storytelling. That night would be very limited for seating and at a slightly discounted rate.

Don’t miss your chance to experience the most unique dinner extravaganza in Michigan. The next won’t be until January 2027.

To make a reservation, you may call or text us at 616.794.1691 or message us through social media. More information is available under the events tab on our website www.gatherinsmyrna.com.
