This weekend, I am mixing up a special drink: Amber Waves of Grain. This cocktail celebrates locality, complexity, curiosity, and blends together our drink mission here at The Miller’s Table.
Pennant rye wh***ey from Portland, sweet vermouth, house-made honey oat syrup made with Maine Grains oats and local wildflower honey from Maine Maple Products, a touch of fresh squeezed lemon juice, and topped with Oxbow’s Surf Casting farmhouse ale. You’ll taste the waves of local grains in this delightful hybrid wh***ey/beer cocktail.
I have been so grateful to lead this restaurant’s beverage program for the last 6 months, and to have served many folks in this community that I have come to know and admire for the last several years. Our craft beers feature Maine breweries utilizing local grains, our signature cocktails rejoice local spirits and in-season ingredients, inspired by living life in Maine as a homesteader and avid outdoors-person, and our drink specials typically utilize provisions from the Skowhegan Farmer’s market in our parking lot, or ingredients I have foraged from my favorite outdoor spaces. This mission teaches us to go with the flow of the seasons, to seize the day when fresh new ingredients show up at your door, and to challenge yourself to think outside the box and try something new, because the results may open your heart and mind to new possibilities and experiences.
Thank you for all you do Amber, and happy birthday. Cheers from Tori, your Beverage Director at The Miller’s Table 💞🍻
