Position Overview
The Barista / Food Service Team Member position is based in Skowhegan, Maine, and features flexible scheduling with both part-time and full-time opportunities, depending on candidate availability. Team members are required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and must be available for some weekend shifts as part of their regular schedule.
Role Summary
We are searching for a dependable Barista / Food Service Team Member to join our front- and back-of-house operations. This role includes responsibilities such as preparing food, performing basic cooking tasks, serving beverages, handling cash transactions, and providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Greet customers, take orders, and process payments accurately and courteously.
• Prepare menu items following established recipes and quality standards, including food preparation and simple cooking tasks.
• Make espresso-based beverages and other drinks, including cocktails, performing barista and bartender duties. Prior experience as a barista is considered a bonus.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and dining/service areas.
Required Qualifications
• Must be 21 years or older (reason: ability to handle alcohol service)
• Reliable transportation and punctual, consistent attendance
• Willingness to work weekends and flexible shifts; 30+ hours/week
• Previous experience in the food service industry preferred
• Strong customer service and verbal communication skills
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs and work a fast-paced environment
• Food handler certification or willingness to obtain one
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
• Experience as a barista, including drink preparation and the use of an espresso machine, is considered a valuable asset for this position.
• Barista experience (drink preparation, espresso machine use)
• Cooking or line-cook experience
• POS/cash register experience
