Thanksgiving is one of our busiest and most meaningful times of the year. But this year, we’re heading into the holiday thinking about more than pies.

A recent episode of The Daily looked at what’s happening in the restaurant industry, including a startling statistic: 42% of restaurant owners reported their businesses were not profitable in 2025.

Behind every neighborhood restaurant, bakery, café, and shop are people working hard to keep the doors open, employ local people, support community events, and create the places that make a downtown feel like a downtown.

In this week’s newsletter, we’re sharing a few thoughts about why supporting local matters, especially during the holiday season, along with everything you need to know about Thanksgiving at Kneads & Wants.

We really need your help. 😂🍨

Fall flavors are moving in, and Cinnamon and Pumpkin need freezer space. There’s just one tiny problem...

We still have Java Chip ice cream. And apparently our solution is to turn it into an absolutely ridiculous sundae and ask you to eat it. Seems reasonable.

This week’s Sundae Society creation is a classic.

Congratulations to Carrie Swan, creator of Rhoda’s Old Fashioned!

Vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, and toasted pistachios. 🍨

Nothing complicated. Nothing trendy. Just that perfect old-school combination of creamy vanilla, warm hot fudge, and salty, crunchy pistachios.

Rhoda’s Old Fashioned is our Sundae Society featured sundae today, so come try Carrie’s creation.

Seven years of Kneads & Wants, and somehow we’re already down to our last TWO Wayback Wednesdays. 💙

On Wednesdays in September, we’re bringing back two favorites from the past:

🥐 Ham & Cheese Croissant
Buttery, flaky croissant filled with ham and cheese. Simple, savory, and very worthy of a comeback.

🍪 Millionaire’s Shortbread
Buttery shortbread layered with caramel and chocolate. Rich, decadent, and one we’ve definitely missed.

☕ Cocodamia Nut Latte
Another favorite from the K&W archives! Our coconut and macadamia latte is back every day through September 30, so you don’t have to wait for Wednesday to get this one.

And if you’ve been thinking about grabbing one of our 7th Anniversary Mystery Boxes, this is your warning: we only have a handful left. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.

The Lemon Meringue Croissant is back! 🍋🥐

We usually make this special croissant only once a year for National Croissant Day in January. But you chose it as a fan favorite, so we are bringing it back for one more weekend!
