We've been open for about a week. Quietly serving lattes and teas. And we thought we'd better take a moment to introduce ourselves.
We're Moss & Mug. Your new favorite local coffee shop.
For the last week, we've been serving unique lattes and watching people take their first sips of something they were not expecting. It's the sip, the pause, and the slight raise of their eyebrow as they try to process what they just tasted. It's exactly what we wanted to create.
We aren't just another coffee shop. We are something a little different.
Tucked inside Juniper Apothecary here in Sioux Falls, we are a full-service herbal tea and coffee bar built around one simple idea: your coffee experience should be unlike anything you've had before. And that slowing down to enjoy it should feel less like a luxury, and more like a normal part of your day.
Our coffee bean is custom-roasted in partnership with Rooted Plant + Coffee Shop out of Rock Valley, Iowa. We asked for something bold, balanced, and unique. And they delivered a roast with notes of chocolate and honey that's unlike any coffee you've ever had. It's built to stand up to flavor without being buried by it.
This is where things get fun. The flavors.
We have a few classics that everyone will enjoy. Vanilla, caramel, brown sugar cinnamon, and the best mocha sauce you can find. And all our syrups are made in-house, from scratch, with clean ingredients. No fillers. Nothing artificial. Not even 'natural flavors'. It's just real syrup.
But then we have our signature syrup: The Meadow. It's a honey, vanilla, chamomile, lemon balm, and lavender blend. Paired with our bean, it tastes like a slow morning in a field you never want to leave.
And Garden Light. Elderflower, lemon verbena, and citrus. Something that genuinely does not exist anywhere else in Sioux Falls.
We believe syrup should complement great coffee, not mask a bad espresso shot. So we built a bean that could handle the flavor profiles all on its own. And we nailed it.
Beyond coffee, we serve a variety and always-expanding list of hot and iced teas, hand-squeezed lemonade, and more. We have something for everyone, and it's all made with the same intention.
There is a couch and some chairs. A little corner for kids to play while you sit or shop in the retail store. There is no rush. No pressure. No judgement. In a loud and fast world that's constantly asking something of you, this is just the place to sit down and just be.
