It is with deep sadness that we share the loss of one of our most beloved family members at Negril, Luis.

Anyone who regularly frequented our Silver Spring location—past or present—knew Luis. For 31 years, he brought a presence and energy that was undeniable. To know him was to feel his warmth. He had a way of lighting up a room, making people feel welcome, and leading with a heart that left a lasting impact on everyone around him.

Alongside our leadership team, Luis helped lead our Silver Spring store to heights that would have seemed unreachable 31 years ago. His dedication, work ethic, and love for people helped shape not only that location, but our company as a whole.

What I will remember most is how he would open the store as soon as any food was ready in the morning. Construction workers, parking attendants, and people from all walks of life would stop by just to say hello and grab whatever was available—most of the time, patties. He knew everyone, and everyone knew him.

The jerk chicken sandwich was something I grew up on. If Luis wasn’t the inventor of the jerk chicken sandwich, he was the inventor to me, because the Silver Spring sandwich always tasted the best with the love and care he put into it every single day.

His legacy will live on in our company, in our restaurants, and in all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest love are with his family, friends, coworkers, and all who are grieving this tremendous loss.

Rest in Paradise, Luis. You will always be part of our family.

— Kevin
