Pure Joy Ice Cream is a small scoop shop located in downtown Siloam Springs, Arkansas. All of our ice creams and sorbets are made using pure, natural ingredients, often from local farmers and producers to create bold and delicious natural flavors. We make everything ourselves, from our brownie mix-ins, to our house-made smoked salt bourbon caramel swirl, to our house-made Mexican chamoy sauce.

Tenemos un sabor muy especial para ustedes! Usamos garambullos de San Luis Potosí, México, para prepararlo. Es muy rica y muy limitado. Visítanos pronto en Siloam Springs o Eureka Springs para probarlo!

Garambullos are a delicious blueberry’esque cactus fruit endemic to modern day central Mexico. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting one of these delicious fruits fresh you may have noticed their tiny seeds have this wonderful crunch that is similar to raw sugar. This flavor will only be around for a very limited time and is only available at our shops in Siloam Springs and Eureka Springs.

We’ve been working on lots of exciting new things but inevitably they’re all taking more time to finish than we’d hoped, but none of them require as much patience as growing a pawpaw orchard. We planted these trees last year in April (swipe to see how small they were when we planted them and some photos of the what the fruit looks like for those who aren’t familiar) and we’re hoping, fingers crossed, these trees in our orchard will have fruit on them in about 5 years.

Until then we need all the pawpaws we can get our hands on, so if you know anyone growing high quantities (at least a couple hundred lbs) of good quality fruit anywhere within about 8 hours of us, we’d love to connect.

And if you still haven’t tried this incredible fruit that is native to this land, we’re about a month away from the fruit beginning to ripen, and being able to produce our sorbet, ice cream, caramel sauce and rice crispy treats. For those who are local, mark your calendars for September 20th and come out to the 2nd annual Pawpaw Festival in Chester, AR. You will also be able to catch us at the 27th annual Ohio Pawpaw Festival September 12-14th, the Indiana Pawpaw Festival in Merom, Indiana September 6-7, the Louisville Pawpaw Festival on September 6th and the Illinois Pawpaw Festival in Pawpaw, IL on September 20th. We hope to see you at one or all of these festivals!

A few weeks ago Matt returned from México with a case of red prickly pear fruits he purchased from a road side stand in San Luis Potosí, México. If you’ve never had a prickly pear before it tastes a bit like a watermelon but with a bit of a strawberry like tartness. It is such a wonderful mid to late summer fruit that is super refreshing. This batch will be available at both our Siloam and Eureka shops and probably won’t last more than a week.

After more than a month of not being able to find a source for our dye-free rainbow sprinkles, we finally have them back at the scoop shop in downtown Siloam Springs! If you’ve been missing them as much as we have been, come down and get yourself a cup or cone of your favorite flavor covered in the tastiest rainbow sprinkles around. 🙌
