A little reminder about reservations!

If you call and we don’t answer, please leave us a message.

If you’re calling during dinner service, our hostesses are most likely busy greeting and seating guests, answering questions, and taking care of the people who are already in the restaurant. They WILL return your call as soon as they are able.

When leaving a message, please include:

• The DAY you’d like to come
• The TIME
• The NUMBER OF PEOPLE in your party
• A GOOD CALLBACK NUMBER

You can also TEXT us with the same information.

Once we receive your request, we will call or text you back with a confirmation.

Please remember, your reservation is not confirmed until you hear back from us.

We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. We want to make sure the guests standing in front of us get our full attention, while still getting back to everyone who is trying to make a reservation as quickly as we can.

AS THE PARKING LOT TURNS — EPISODE 10

“18 WHEELS & ABSOLUTELY NO PLAN”

Just when I thought I had seen EVERYTHING in our parking lot…
We have now apparently added TRACTOR TRAILER PARKING.

Yes.

TRACTOR. TRAILERS.

Because evidently Lumadue’s is no longer just a restaurant.

We are now a truck stop.

At this point, I’m expecting someone to walk through the door wearing a Bluetooth headset asking:

“Y’all got showers?”

Sir.
We have gnocchi. We have filet. We have homemade desserts.

We do NOT have showers.
We do NOT have diesel.
We do NOT have a CAT scale.
We do NOT sell DEF.

Apparently the new business model is:

Dinner & Freight.

Come for the steak.
Stay because your electronic log says you legally have to.

I’m half expecting somebody to come inside, slap a fuel receipt on the hostess stand and say:

“Put $400 on Pump 6 and give me the chicken parm to go.”

SIR.

THERE IS NO PUMP 6.

THERE ISN’T EVEN A PUMP 1.

And before anyone asks — NO, Bill did not approve this expansion.

He did not wake up this morning and say:
“You know what this place needs?
MORE AXLES.”

Honestly, I don’t even know what’s happening anymore.

First we had people sitting in the middle of the parking lot.
Then we had the pre-gamers. The patio VIP section. The wardrobe department. The people who apparently cannot commit to an actual parking space.
And now…
18 WHEELERS.

At this rate, we’re three episodes away from installing CB radios behind the hostess stand.

“Breaker breaker, this is Lumadue’s. Table 12, your lasagna is ready. Over.”

Next thing you know somebody’s going to back a Peterbilt up to the kitchen door yelling:

“YOU GOT A LOADING DOCK?”

No.

But apparently we have EVERYTHING ELSE.

Welcome to Lumadue’s.

Dinner Wednesday through Saturday.

Tractor trailer parking whenever the hell you feel like it.

Showers: absolutely not.
Diesel: absolutely not.
Parking enforcement:

CHRISTMAS WILL BE HERE BEFORE WE KNOW IT!

And if you’re the person in charge of planning the company Christmas party, family get-together, or holiday dinner… this is your friendly reminder not to wait until December and then panic.

Let us help!

Lumadue’s is now booking Christmas parties and holiday gatherings, and we’d love to have you celebrate with us.

Good food.
A cozy atmosphere.
No cooking.
No dishes.
And best of all, you get to actually sit down and enjoy yourself instead of spending the whole night wondering if everyone has enough to eat.

Dates will start filling up, so if you’re thinking about having your Christmas gathering with us, give us a call and let’s get it on the calendar.

Because December is stressful enough without adding “find somewhere for 20 people to eat” to the list.

SUNDAY.

Lumadue’s is CLOSED.

So today Bill and I are going to attempt something we have very little experience with…

BEING NORMAL PEOPLE.

Apparently normal people sleep in.
Drink coffee slowly.
Sit on the couch.
Watch TV.
Maybe take a nap.

Sounds fake, but we’re willing to give it a shot.

There will be NO restaurant talk.

No food orders.
No schedules.
No “Did you remember to…”
No “We’re almost out of…”
And absolutely NO trips to the restaurant “just for a minute.”

Because we all know how that ends.

One minute becomes two hours, Bill has a screwdriver in his hand, I’m making a list, and somehow we’re discussing Alfredo sauce.

So today we are RESTING.

That is the official plan.

And if either one of us says…

“While we’re out…”

THE OTHER ONE IS ALLOWED TO TURN THE CAR AROUND AND GO HOME.

SATURDAY! THE WEEKEND IS HERE!

I’ve decided that Bill and I need our own reality TV show.

Think about it. We’re married. We own a restaurant. We work together. We cook together. We spend our days off together.

AND WE STILL LIKE EACH OTHER!

Somebody call TLC. This is groundbreaking television!

Tonight’s episode features just Bill and me in the kitchen.

The plot? Two people attempt to feed an entire dining room while maintaining a happy marriage.

There will be suspense. There will be romance. There will be Italian food.

And at some point, one of us will open the refrigerator, stare into it for 30 seconds, close it, and immediately remember what we went in there for.

I’m not naming names.

The best part? Unlike most reality TV couples, we don’t need a producer to create drama.

WE OWN A RESTAURANT!

Anyway, enough about our television debut. LET’S EAT!

FRIDAY! DATE NIGHT AT LUMADUE’S!

Once again, I have officially declared Friday DATE NIGHT!

No, nobody voted on this. No committee was formed. And Bill wasn’t consulted.

Some decisions just need to be made!

LADIES, listen up!

Tell your husband you’re going out to dinner. Don’t ask him where he wants to go. We all know how that conversation ends.

“Where do you want to eat?” “I don’t care. Where do YOU want to eat?” “Anywhere is fine.” “How about Lumadue’s?” “Sounds good!”

SEE HOW EASY THAT WAS?

And gentlemen, here’s a little free marriage advice.

Make the reservation. Open her car door. Tell her she looks beautiful. And FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, don’t ask her what’s for dinner!

She’s been answering that question since MONDAY!

Meanwhile, Bill, Joe, and I will be in the kitchen preparing your dinner. We’re having a great time working together, and I have to say, I think I’ve found my calling!

Bill might have thought marrying me meant he’d have someone to come home to.

A little restaurant reminder from me because apparently this needs its own Facebook post.
Please do not bring outside food into Lumadue’s.
No birthday cakes.
No cupcakes.
No desserts.
No snacks.
No “it’s just one little thing.”
No food from home.
No food from somewhere else.
Basically, if we didn’t make it, please don’t bring it in.
We absolutely love birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations, and all the reasons you come out to dinner with us, but outside food is not permitted.
And yes… cakes and cupcakes count.
Thank you for understanding and saving me from having to become the Cake Police.

THURSDAY! PASTA NIGHT, PARTE DUE!

Which is Italian for ROUND TWO!

AND apparently, it’s International Coffee Day!

Well, isn’t that convenient? A holiday dedicated to the very thing that keeps half the population functioning and the other half from ending up in jail!

Personally, I think coffee deserves more than one day. Possibly its own parade.

Anyway, back to the PASTA!

Bill, Joe, and I are back in the kitchen tonight! I have to say, I’m really loving my time cooking alongside these two. We’re becoming quite the team, and I’m learning something new every night!

And I must be doing something right because they keep letting me come back!

And since it’s International Coffee Day, I’m thinking we should celebrate with a nice dinner followed by a little tiramisu.

Coffee AND dessert? Now THAT’S a holiday I can get behind!

WEDNESDAY! PASTA NIGHT!

I’ve come to the conclusion that Wednesdays are a lot like family reunions.

Everybody shows up hungry, everybody wants something different, and somehow BILL ends up in the middle of it all!

Bill, Joe, and I will be in the kitchen tonight. And I must say, we’re becoming quite the team!

I’ve learned a lot working alongside these two. Including the fact that there are apparently 47 different ways to be in someone’s way WITHOUT ACTUALLY MOVING!

It’s a talent. Don’t be jealous.

Anyway, enough about my professional development!

IT’S PASTA NIGHT!

$26 plus tax gets you your choice of pasta, sauce, meat, salad, our house-made bread AND dessert!

As the Parking Lot Turns: Episode 9. THE PARKING LOT CONFUSION COMMITTEE

One person pulls in and stops.

Another person pulls in and stops.

Now they're BOTH sitting there waiting for the other one to move.

Nobody moves.

Nobody knows who's going first.

At this point, I'm ready to walk outside with a whistle, an orange vest, and two little airplane landing paddles.
