Happy Tuesday BBQ Family,

There are moments in life that remind you just how precious every day truly is.

Earlier this month, I experienced a serious health event that ultimately led to a hospital stay from September 11 through September 14. While the medical emergency itself happened before I arrived at the hospital, I will forever be grateful for the exceptional care I received from the teams at ER at Sherman and Texoma Medical Center.

When I arrived at Sherman ER, the staff immediately took my condition seriously. After evaluating me, they arranged for me to be transported by ambulance directly to TMC, where a room was already waiting for me upon arrival. Knowing that a team was prepared and ready to continue my care brought comfort during a very uncertain time.

Throughout my stay, I was treated with professionalism, compassion, kindness, and respect. Every nurse, doctor, technician, aide, and staff member I encountered made a difficult experience a little easier. You answered questions, offered reassurance, and provided outstanding care not only to me but also to my family.

As a small business owner, I’ve always believed that people make the difference. During those days in the hospital, I witnessed that firsthand. The healthcare professionals at Sherman ER and TMC showed what it truly means to serve others.

Thank you for your dedication.
Thank you for your compassion.
Thank you for your skill and professionalism.
Most of all, thank you for caring for me during one of the most challenging times of my life.

Happy Sunday BBQ Lovers,

🌸 Down Memory Lane – September 5, 2021 🌸

Five years ago, this picture was taken after we survived our opening weekend.

We were exhausted.

We were sore.

We were overwhelmed.

But most of all, we were grateful.

What you see in this picture are two people sitting on their couch after one of the biggest weekends of their lives. Behind those smiles were months of planning, long days, sleepless nights, prayers, uncertainty, and faith that God would make a way.

When we posted this picture in 2021, we wrote:

“It was worth all the sweat, tears, and prayers.”

Looking back today, that statement is even more true.

Over the past five years, we’ve served thousands of meals, met incredible people, built lifelong friendships, celebrated victories, weathered challenges, and watched God open doors we never could have opened ourselves that others tried to close.

As we recently closed this chapter of Crooked Letter BBQ, we’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on where it all started. This picture reminds us that success was never measured only by sales or awards. Success was the relationships built, the lives touched, the memories created, and the power of God in our lives.

To every customer, friend, family member, supporter, and prayer warrior who walked this journey with us…

Thank you.

You helped turn a dream into a twelve-year legacy that we will cherish forever.

And just like we said back then…

What a beautiful memory! Looking at this post from five years ago takes us right back to that mix of nerves, excitement, and immense gratitude. On September 3, 2021, we were just starting out—putting on the finishing touches and so ready to share our passion with all of you.

It feels so full-circle to share this today. Five years ago, we were counting down to our first day of service, and today, we are counting down to our very last.

While tomorrow, Friday, September 4, 2026, marks the end of Crooked Letter BBQ, we are so thankful for the friendly people like Chad from Big Iron who helped us get started and for every single one of you who became our loyal BBQ lovers. We have been truly blessed to see what God can do over the last five years.

Come help us write the final chapter! We are excited to say goodbye in a big way at the Sherman Medical Center 4th Annual Grayson County Health Fair.

We will have our final showdown with a limited menu: Sandwich Plates, Nachos, and BBQ Plates (until we sell out). Please remember: No bulk orders for this final service.

A Bittersweet Milestone: Thank You for 5 Incredible Years! 🖤🤍💚

Family, friends, and loyal BBQ family—we have some big news to share.

Five years ago in Texoma, on September 3, 2021, we fired up the smokers, opened our windows, and trusted in what God could do.

The journey since then has been nothing short of an adventure fill with blessings, challenges, unforgettable moments and the best customers we could have ever asked for.

Today, as we’re reaching our five-year mark, we are filled with immense gratitude.

However, after much prayer and consideration, we have made the very difficult decision to permanently close our operations. A "perfect storm" of unforeseen health reasons, the ongoing economic slowdown, and the rising costs of goods has led us to this choice. Effective immediately, we will no longer be taking catering orders or continuing regular operations.

But we aren't leaving without celebrating with you one last time!

While our official anniversary is September 3rd, we have decided our final day of service will be at a special event on Friday, September 4th. Join us for our ultimate, final send-off at Sherman Medical Center’s 4th Annual Grayson County Health Fair!

Down Memory Lane Post

Happy Saturday BBQ Lovers,

🌸 5 Years in Texoma, But Our Story Started Long Before That…

As we count down to celebrating our 5th anniversary in Texoma, we’re taking a trip down memory lane and sharing some of the moments that helped build Crooked Letter BBQ.

Fun Fact: Before there was a food trailer, before there was a smoker setup, and before many of you ever tasted our BBQ, we were in Irving, Texas selling plates right off the grill.

This photo was taken on August 28, 2014—the day Anthony had a trailer hitch installed on our van for the smoker. At the time, it may not have seemed like a big moment, but looking back, it was one of the first steps toward turning a dream into reality.

The next week we planned to start selling dinners, full of excitement, hope, and a whole lot of faith. We had no idea where this journey would take us, but we knew we were willing to work for it.

From selling plates off the grill in Irving… to serving the Texoma community for the last 5 years… what a blessing this journey has been.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. ❤️

Where the Name Came From

Happy Monday BBQ Lovers,

🌸 Down Memory Lane – 5 Years Ago Today

One of the first questions we were asked was:

“Where did the name Crooked Letter BBQ come from?”

The answer takes us back home to Mississippi.

As proud Mississippians, we wanted our business name to reflect our roots. If you grew up in Mississippi, you’ve probably heard the rhyme:

“M-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-humpback-humpback-I.”

Five years later, we’re still proud to bring a little Mississippi hospitality and comfort food tradition to Texas.

The name may have started with our roots, but the community we’ve built here has become part of our family story too.
