Turns out, a high-sp*ed glass tube emptying p*e into a basement pool of Busch Light is a "massive liability" and violates "literally every health code in existence." Who knew? 🤷‍♂️ 😉

🚨 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

After decades of local ownership, we have officially finalized a deal to sell the historic Shelby Hotel building to The Great Wolf Lodge Corp. 🐺🏨

They plan to incorporate our landmark facade into their first 'Urban Adventure' concept, which features extreme indoor water amenities without the massive footprint. The primary feature? 'The Shelby Slide'—a reinforced glass, high-sp*ed tube that transports guests from a new rooftop lounge through the center of the building, terminating in a revamped lower-level spa. (see rendering)

In a nod to our local traditions, the slide will feature a "relief valve" system where guests can... well, let’s just say you can contribute to the "fluids" mid-slide. The tube empties directly into a giant filtered pool of Busch Light in the basement, giving a whole new meaning to the old 'Drown Night.' 🍺💦

Construction on 'The Shelby Drop' is set to begin this summer. We want to thank the community for supporting us all these years, but we are thrilled about this major (and slightly sanitary-challenged) development for Shelby!

This young man may have served you a time or two in the Hotel or cleaned up when you were done eating.. well today we can proudly say he is a U.S. Marine Corps graduate from Camp Pendleton in San Diego California after 13 weeks of training! Way to go Dalton Heisner! We are all very proud of you! ! Sadie Belle Thelen-Heisner!
