So first and foremost, my apologies to our sponsors in not posting/hashtaging/shout outing earlier. I headed to Effingham to cook over the weekend kinda by myself as Dave had a family issue that made him unable to attend. He usually runs the Bare Knuckle cook at this comp and I assist both him and Bryan Odom in their cooks. When I found out Dave wasn’t going, I called Bryan and said “Bare Knuckle isn’t going to enter, I will just come out and help you..” Bryan being the man he is said “No way, you enter and cook it, and we will try to help each other as much as we can” So I did, and entered all 6 categories solo… To say it was difficult would be an understatement, it was hot and I was worn out… my typical over preparedness went out the window and I had to do a lot “on the fly”… I forgot to bring a couple things that I needed. As usual, the BBQ family came through with what I forgot. Pretty sure I got some beef broth from TDawgs, and BBQ Pit Bros, got some turbinado sugar from BBQ Pit Bros, and something else from them, but I don’t remember what. I’m sure Jordan does though…Anyway, what most people don’t realize, is that as competitors we help each other out. In the end we are “competing against each other” but in reality we are trying to impress 6 total strangers, so with that said and trust I could say a lot more… I in all the chaos of turning in etc, didn’t get a chicken or brisket pic, but did on the other categories…my results were as follows ( idk how many teams were there, like 13-14)
Chicken - 9th
Ribs - 11th
Pork - 6th
Brisket - 4th
Sausage - 1st (By 12 points)
Dessert - 7th
Not the results I was hoping for, but it’s all good !!
Congrats to Bad Influence on the GC
T Dawgs on the RGC
And congrats to (in no certain order)…Sofa King, Crooked Que, Smoke Sargent, BBQ Pit Bros, and Poppin Smoke and I hope I didn’t forget anyone ..
