I am the City Secretary for the City of Wheeler

𝟐. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐛?

I like that I interreact with everyone in the City of Wheeler-from the Mayor & Council members to the department heads and the everyday residents that walk through the door. I have a unique birds eye view on how the city functions. I don’t just file paperwork, I help orchestrate the decisions that shape Wheeler’s future.

𝟑. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐢𝐭?

The biggest challenge is there is zero room for error when it comes to the statutory deadlines and transparency laws. Missing a posting deadline or mishandling a record isn’t just an administrative slip---it can legally jeopardize a council action or compromise municipal trust.

𝟒. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟?

I’d tell myself to not wait for the “perfect” moment to take the leap. Step out of your comfort zone, trust your gut and follow your dreams a lot sooner----because the only thing waiting for you on the other side of fear is the life you were actually meant to live.

𝟓. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲?

I have been a member of Rotary since 2014.

𝟔. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲?

I joined the Rotary Club of Shamrock because I wanted to move beyond just living in this community and actively play a part in building its future. Whether it’s coming together for the EPIC Day of Service to keep our town beautiful or supporting local projects, Rotary gives me a direct, hands-on way to give back to the place we call home.

𝟕. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐨𝐟?

I’m really proud of our Rotary EPIC Day of Service this past May. We did a major cleanup to clear trash and debris from key areas around town, including the Highway 83 and I-40 interchange. It required some real elbow grease, but seeing the immediate, clean transformation of our community—and doing it alongside a great team—was incredibly rewarding.

𝟖.𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 (𝐟𝐮𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭) 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰?

I am a massive fan of hard rock music. Why? Because there is nothing quite like the raw energy, incredible musicianship and the sheer power of a great rock track. For me, it’s the ultimate way to recharge. When you spend your days focused on detailed and structure, putting on some hard rock is the perfect release. It’s high-energy, unapologetic and gets the adrenaline moving---so don’t be surprised if you catch me completely jamming out when I think no one is looking.

​As we celebrate Independence Day, we are reminded of the incredible spirit of community, freedom, and service that unites us all. Today is a perfect day to cherish time with family, enjoy the fireworks, and reflect on the blessings of liberty.

RYLA is such a powerful experience, bringing together young leaders to build confidence, sharpen their leadership skills, and make lifelong connections. This year, Shamrock Rotary was incredibly proud to sponsor and send **Trey Bentley** as our camp attendee. Trey, you represented us so well, and we can’t wait to see how you bring those new leadership skills back to our community! 🚀

But the Shamrock pride didn’t stop there! Two of our very own dedicated members, **Kye Harper** and **Shelly Livingston**, stepped up to serve as camp counselors. Thank you both for volunteering your time, energy, and wisdom to mentor the next generation of changemakers.
