Sending well wishes to one of our youngest and most loyal customers as she continues to show cancer just how gritty and tough coal region girls can be 💕💪🏼
I haven’t updated much. Simply because we had a lot to process. Remember when I took Aubrey to the ER thinking she broke or fractured her foot? Then they found suspicious spots in her bones by chance on the X-rays. Those X-rays lead to a sedated MRI. That MRI lead to a bone biopsy. The immediate biospy came back with cancerous cells, that showed as a Leukemia relapse. After the sample was sent off to the labs, it turns out it was Histiocytic Sarcoma. A extremely rare cancer that often shows in older people, RARELY in children. In fact less than TWENTY children diagnosed with Histiocytic Sarcoma. The sample of the bone biopsy was then sent out for a second and third opinion. Another nightmare confirmed. They all came back as Histiocytic Sarcoma. Last Wednesday, we made the journey down to Philly to CHOP to discuss our next steps. The Oncologist was very transparent with us. This is going to be an extreme invasive and intense treatment plan. There’s no time frame on treatment since it’s so rare, it’s a case by case scenario. It all depends on how her body handles and fights the cancer. She also told us that Aubrey will need a bone marrow transplant. She wasn’t set to finish treatment with her Leukemia battle til February 17, 2027. Unfortunately, we are no longer looking at that date. We are to stop our current Leukemia treatment plan and start the Histiocytic Sarcoma treatment plan as soon as this Monday. We will be looking at very heavy and harsh chemos that will mostly be inpatient at Janet Weis for a minimum of 4 weeks but they are expecting longer. They are expecting a hard month with several transfusions. We unfortunately will not be allowed visitors as this treatment will completely wipe out all of her immune and her health is our utmost concern. Every illness could be life threatening. Once she hits remission again, we will transferred by ambulance to CHOP for the bone marrow transplant when it’s time for that. CHOP and Geisinger will continue to work together to formulate the best plan of treatment for my girl. Just when I thought our long hospital stays were over, I was so so wrong. Many more hospital stays, unfortunately more surgeries, more chemos, more pokes, more missed time at work, more time missed battling instead of being a kid. Another cancer to fight and so much more uncertainty. Please pray and keep us all in your thoughts as we navigate through this next phase in our lives, Especially Aubrey. Its going to be a very long and very hard month. I just need her to get through this. One cancer diagnosis crushed us mentally and emotionally but now we have two. My poor girl doesn’t deserve the life she was dealt , she should know more than just hospital stays, medicine and doctors.
As we prepare for the next steps as much as I hate to ask, if you would like to help financially. Lessening the burden of financial stress would allow me to focus on my little girl with more hospital stays, of course transport and even DoorDash. We have a long road ahead of us again but we have the best army behind us.
