I've put off posting this for a few days...mainly because I didn't want to have to do it...BUT the safety of our staff and customers will ALWAYS be our main concern.
In a nut shell, we have had to discontinue the pre-paid food board for a while. Just last week, there have been 3 separate issues on 3 separate occasions, involving 3 separate people that utilize the board, nearly daily... because there were no tickets available. Two of which, had to nearly be forcefully removed. Two of which ate anyway, knowing there were no tickets and that they couldn't afford to pay for their food. All of which, confronted and challenged a member of our staff, in front of customers. Sat in the restaurant waiting for someone to buy a ticket. Asked other customers at the door (before they could even enter the building). One leaving out, told some customers waiting to be seated, not to eat here because we dont feed the homeless, etc.
Needless to say, this behavior isn't acceptable. Neither our staff, nor our customers should feel uncomfortable or unsafe in our establishment. So unfortunately we needed to stop the board for a bit. Debating if we should put it back up at all, to be honest.
It's a shame. It's saddening. It's discouraging. Heartbreaking. Really. Which is why I have put off announcing it, until now.
It went soo good, for soo long, but when the wrong sort of people started to find out about it, use it and then think they are entitled to it, well.. it just got messy...
I'm open to suggestions, if anyone has any...
I'm hoping for a safer way to continue it. Unless we start calling the police on the ones that cause trouble. I'm not sure there is another way. That alone is scary. What if that makes them angry enough to cause even more trouble, possibly hurt someone, etc. before help arrives? The police have enough to do already. No?? IDK. Any ideas??
