Happy National Pizza Day!

It also happens to be Volleyball Day in Seward, America. Our very own #1 Ranked Huskers go up against the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers, from The Bob, tonight at 7:00. Its the first Conference match for both teams. The Huskers are 11-0, but the Knights are a respectable 9-3. They probably won't be in the National Title conversation, but its still a Conference match. At least on paper, its also a pretty straightforward match. Defensively, middle blockers Andi Jackson and Manaia Ogbechie need to shut down Skylar George (who leads Rutgers w/ 106 kills this season). On offence, our Setter needs to distribute the ball to exploit the gaps. Fortunately, no one does that better than Bergan Riley. If she isolates the pin hitters (Harper Murry anyone?), its going to be a short night for the Knights. Our prediction? Our Middles control the net, Bergan sets Harper to do Harper things pretty much at will and the Huskers start the Conference season with a Sweep.

Happy Thursday!

Kind of feels like fall today, eh?

Enough so that it feels like a great night for a Packers game. And, as luck would have it, the Pack hosts the Falcons at Lambeau Field for this addition of Thursday Night Football. Perfect weather is forecast up there tonight, so that won't be a factor. Michael Penix is back for Atlanta. Jayden Reed is out for the Pack and the O-Line is beat up right now. It might be a toss up except for Trey Smack. He's 5/5 in field goal attempts after two games, including one from 59. That's the difference for the Packer Backer. Squire's Prediction: Green Bay 23 - Atlanta 20.

Doors open at 5:00 tonight. Kickoff is set for 7:15. World Smash Burgers, Prize Winning Pizza and Frosty Mugs of icy cold B**r, along with everything else, are all available tonight while you watch the game on our ginormous TVs. Happy Wednesday!

Its a cool, gray, second day of Fall. That's the perfect day for a couple of things.

1. A second chance. Remember the Husker Volleyball match with Missouri at Wrigley Field that was suspended for dampness? The powers that be were able to reschedule it...for TONIGHT!

2. Comfort food. Something way back in our DNA is sending out the signal that winter's coming. A billion years, more or less, of evolution makes it clear that humans searching for Burgers & Pizza are the same thing as the squirrels in our yard scrambling for walnuts. Time to get busy.

Happy Taco Tuesday!

The word from our all knowing AI is that Taco Tuesday, as a promotion, didn’t start in any of the usual suspect states like Texas, California, Arizona, etc. Nope. It actually started in 1973 at the Snow White Drive-In in Rapid City, SD. Wonder if they had any idea what kind of monster they had created?

And yes, everyone once in a while even the Crew at Squire Wards jumps on a bandwagon. Hey, trendsetting is hard work, we’re just taking Tuesdays off from the promo part so we can concentrate on culinary sorcery.

Every Tuesday brings a different Taco offering. Last week was the return of the Banh Mi Taco. So what’s tonight’s Featured Taco, you ask? Nothing less than our San Diego Style Fish Tacos!!! Flaky Atlantic Cod is b**r battered and fried crispy. Its added to soft Flour Tortillas with our lightly dressed, tangy Slaw, Smoked Tomato Salsa, Lime Crema and a little Cilantro on top. Fresh Jalapenos are optional. Encouraged, but optional.

Take 'The 15' (San Diego speak) to Seward Street and turn west, toward the mountains. About 2 seconds after you make the corner Squire Wards is on your right. Doors open at 5:00 so come on down. We’ll save you a seat.

Happy Monday!

Remember 1979 when you’d head to Lincoln to Tailgate at 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning before the Hukser Game at 1:30? Then after the Game you’d wander over to the Coliseum to watch the Husker Volleyball? The Football team was 10-2 that year and the Volleyball team was 41-8-3 (yes, 52 Matches and ties were possible in the AIAW days).

Crazier still? All you had to do to get into the Volleyball Match was to show your Football Ticket. My, how times have changed. Now Volleyball is the hottest ticked in Huskerville and I think most of us would be pretty happy with a 10-2 Football season. Who’da thunk.

This Saturday, Squire Wards will be hosting a Throwback Party! The Football Huskers take on Michigan State at 4:00. Then the Volleyball Huskers face Ohio State at 8:00. And just like 1979, one ticket will get you into both Events at Squire Wards! Ok, you don’t really need a ticket to attend, just come on in.

Unlike 1979, our Bathrooms are nicer than Memorial Stadium’s and you’ll be cooler and less crowded than we were in the Coliseum. You couldn’t get a B**r at either place in ’79, but you certainly can this Saturday at Squire Wards. And they will be WAY cheaper than the 2026 stadium version. With 12 TVs, there’s not a bad seat in the house and you don’t have to rely on the 18 fellow fans between you and the aisle to hand you a cardboard box of pizza.

Doors open at 3:30 and we’ll have our Full Menu up and running about Kickoff Time. We’ll have Food and Drink Specials All Day. We’ll even have a REVERSE HAPPY HOUR, starting at 8:00 with the First Serve of the Volleyball Match. Wear Red. Cheer loud. Join us at Squire Wards this Saturday! Goooooo Biggggggg Reddddd!

Happy Husker Saturday!

The Huskers take on North Dakota tonight at 6:15. Squire Wards will be ready! Of course we'll have our World Smash Burgers, Super Cold B**r and Prize Winning Pizza. We'll also have the best and most unique Appetizer and Cocktail Menus around.

But we know everyone loves S.W.A.G. so we kept the College Night Roulette Wheel out just for tonight. Everyone gets a spin*. The first person to land on "00" wins the ultimate status symbol. You may be asking yourself, “what the heck is a Last Chance B**r?” They’re B**rs from Breweries that have left the building. Zipline Kolsch, Daaaaang and Copper Alt. Nebraska Brewing Brunette Nut Brown Ale. Even the last of the boss’s stash of Enter The Time Dragon from Cosmic Eye. No more Brewery. No more reorders. No more second chances. We’ll even add a few brews that were discontinued by breweries that are still around. We might even dust off that 12 pack of Schlitz that’s been in the storeroom for a while. (JK 😁)

Happy Volleyball Day in America - Wednesday Edition.

Thanks to everyone who made it it for a little Banh Mi Taco nostalgia last night. We had fun making those up again! Now, onward and upward.

Sitting at 5-4, its easy to think Creighton's Volleyball Team is off to a bumpy start. The sneaky thing about that 5-4 is that 2 of the 5 wins and 2 of the 4 losses are against ranked opponents. Its an uphill climb for the Bluejays to get back to the Top 10 (they're #20 this morning), but we're also pretty sure they're looking at tonight's match as a possible shortcut to a lofty ranking. We think DBK has been holding back a few twists in the rotation for big matches. Time will tell if those change ups will make it to the court tonight, but, either way, the Squire's Prediction is that Nebraska will take the match 3-1. First Serve is set for 6:00 tonight from PBA. Did we mention tonight's special?
