Riptide Coastal BBQ

Riptide Coastal BBQ Due to catering and event demand, we are unable to offer traditional restaurant walk-in hours.

We will have occasional pop-ups for takeout, and often attend events, so be sure to visit our website or our page on Facebook for updates!

We charge $0 for water when doing a bbq popup...we want y'all to stay hydrated. Just think how much you're saving compared to our hotel room.

(Do people really pay this? I'd rather drink from the bathroom faucet if that desperate.)

Here until 7pm and then we're off to deliver impromptu BBQ to the local fire department and police department as a thank you. No doubt they've been active today. :)

Still plenty of Caribbean Chicken and Carolina Pulled Pork available! Running a bit low on Carne Asada, but we're here and serving!

You'll find us at 105 Cowing Street (canalside, next door to Fall Street Brewing's rear entrance).

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Due to last night's storm, our pop-up event at GEM's in Waterloo will be rescheduled. A future date will be announced once determined.

Since we start smoking, prepping, and marinating the day before a pop-up, we're still going to open, just at our canalside location in Seneca Falls. We'll be starting at 4pm and we'll go until sold out.

WHO: Us! And perhaps you!

WHAT: We'll be serving your choice of Island Carne Asada, Tamed Caribbean Chicken, or Carolina Pulled Pork on either Pineapple Rice or slider buns. Meals will also come with our Carolina Pit Beans, Honey Cornbread, Carolina Apple Slaw, choice of bagged chips, and choice of housemade craft BBQ sauce. All for $15.

WHERE: Riptide Coastal BBQ; 105 Cowing Street, Seneca Falls (located canalside, next door to Fall Street Brewing's rear entrance).

WHEN: 4pm until sold out (limited quantities are available)

WHY: We love to open when our availability allows. We simply need to stay put this evening, rather than holding our GEM's pop-up due to the storm. It'll be back at a later date.

HOW: Enter the parking lot near People's Park off of Water Street. You can park there or continue down about 100 yards to where you'll see our sign. Come on up to the window and we'll get you taken care of! I added a lil' video thanks to Finger Lakes Drone Solutions to give you a true bird's eye view. :)

Note: Our service provider *still* hasn't fixed our processing equipment, so we can't go digital as usual. We'll be cash and Venmo () only.

Smokers survived, weighted tree planter didn't. Search party is on for my covers. Glad my truck is high, gotta be able to leave once prep is done! :)

It was difficult to hand over today's briskets to the catering event. Just ridiculously tender, juicy, and flavorful. Tonight, we start smoking a few pork shoulders for tomorrow's lil' popup...assuming a tornado doesn't come along and sn**ch my smokers. Stay safe everyone!

UPDATE: Our pop-up event at Gem's will be rescheduled due to the aftermath of the storm. We will instead be serving from our Riptide location at 105 Cowing Street (canalside, next door to Fall Street Brewing's rear entrance).

Stay safe and our thoughts are with everyone dealing with damage and cleanup today...that was a heck of a storm. :(
....................

We've been invited to hold a pop-up at GEM's in Waterloo tomorrow, so we're going to give it a whirl!

WHO: Us! And you!

WHAT: We'll be serving your choice of Island Carne Asada, Tamed Caribbean Chicken, or Carolina Pulled Pork on either Pineapple Rice or slider buns. Meals will also come with our Carolina Pit Beans, Carolina Apple Slaw, choice of bagged chips, and choice of housemade craft BBQ sauce. All for $15.

WHERE: Gem's in Waterloo (1171 Waterloo Geneva Rd), across from Mac's Drive-in.

WHEN: TBD! We will reschedule due to the storm.

WHY: Because we *love* this and we try to open when our availability allows!

HOW: Pull on into the lot and find us under the covered pavilion. Please be patient if we happen to be swamped. Our service provider *still* hasn't fixed our equipment, so we can't go digital as usual. We'll be cash and Venmo () only.

Ahead of tomorrow's goofy opening, here's a little pictorial on where we're located. We'll be open Saturday, August 29th at our 105 Cowing Street location from Noon until sold out (guessing by 1:30pm).

1. Turn off Water Street into the parking lot, right by People's Park.

2. You'll see the National Women's Hall of Fame straight ahead and you'll turn to the left.

3. You can park in this lot and take a short, lovely stroll to our spot, or drive further...just know that parking is limited back here. :)

4. Continue down this stretch along the canal, you're almost there!

5. You'll see us to the left of Fall Street Brewing's rear entrance.

6. Beyond the sign, you'll see our service window (look for ORDER HERE), and we'll be serving up our BBQ right through there!

I'm adding in a satellite view as well (we're that cute little blue dot).

Hope this helps and tomorrow is going to be wacky. Our service provider didn't complete what was needed, so we have no way to accept credit cards, take online orders, or see open orders on our screen.

Tomorrow, we're going old school...cash only. But I do think we can accept Venmo!

Since we can't post online yet, here is the menu:

Choose between Caribbean Pulled Pork or Tamed Caribbean Chicken on Pineapple Rice.

Served with your choice of Calypso Baked Beans or Carolina Pit Beans; a mini-loaf of Honey Cornbread; Toppers of Carolina Apple Slaw and Pickled Red Onions; Choice of Chips; and Choice of Craft BBQ Sauce

$15?

Nah.

We're rolling with only $10 as we introduce our little hideaway. Get 'em while they last, because they won't. :)

If you do want to pre-order, please message or call 315-878-7444 and we can get you squared away through Venmo. :)

Like I said, this is gonna be a weird one, but we wanted to do a little pop-up and just need to roll with the inconveniences as we wait on our order processing company to wrap up.

Okay, so this may be a really weird opening, but we ARE going to hold a lil' lunchtime pop-up tomorrow (Saturday, August 29th).

We'll be doing a bunch of preppin', smokin', and cookin' for a catering reservation later that day, but now that we're consolidated to one location, we can still handle a little popup action. :)

We'll be open from Noon until sold out at our now single location, 105 Cowing Street. We're still right downtown, behind the buildings of Fall Street. You'll find us canalside and just to the left of Fall Street Brewing's rear entrance.

I'll be updating with photos and video footage to help guide you. Yeah, we're pretty hidden, but with our focus now on meeting catering and event demand, it's the perfect location. And once you find us, it's an easy pickup. :)

SOME INTEL:

- We are still awaiting integration from our service provider, so we cannot offer pre-orders at this time. They said they're "expediting the request," but who knows what that really means.

- We will be serving Carolina Pulled Pork and Tamed Caribbean Chicken on either slider buns or Pineapple Rice, along with delicious sides...Carolina Pit Beans, Calypso Beans, and Honey Cornbread (gluten-free as always).

- I'll post again this evening with the menu breakdown and hopefully online ordering will be resolved!

Hope to see you tomorrow! I can promise you, it's gonna be weird, but we've collectively dealt with weird since day one. :)

We're limpin' to the finish line, but I think we're on target for a lunch pop-up this coming Saturday, August 29th.

Some insight...

- We're still waiting on our processor to get things reactivated after the move to where we can accept online orders and do all the fancy things at the order counter. Should it not be ready by Saturday, we'll be cash only. Or crypto. Or gold doubloons.

- We're going to have our Tamed Caribbean Chicken, Carolina Pulled Pork, Calypso Beans, Carolina Pit Beans, and Cornbread on the menu, which I'll post once our processor finishes whatever it is they're doing.

- We're going to wait on the BOGO offer until we can have a bigger reopening, so stay tuned on that. This will be more limited and we don't want to sell out in like 20 minutes. :)

- Our new location is at 105 Cowing Street, which is canalside behind Fall Street. We have signage up, but it's still a bit of a speakeasy kind of situation. You'll find us next door to Fall Street Brewing's rear entrance.

- Even though we’re primarily doing catering and events at this point, we WILL still do occasional pop-ups at our location. There's no room for dine-in, and not much room for parking, so it'll truly be a takeout situation. :)

- We will be doing remote events and have been invited to serve from Gem's in Waterloo (across the street for Mac's Drive-in). We plan on being there Thursday, September 3rd from 4pm until sold out and again on Saturday, September 12th from Noon until sold out. More dates are coming, including at other venues!

We missed y'all! We've been busy with catering, which we love, but we also love serving up our Coastal-Inspired BBQ through pop-ups so we can see all of your smiling faces. :)

I'll be sure to update tomorrow and hopefully online ordering will be activated in time. The move to one location went smoothly, now we're just getting things organized and putting on the final touches inside and out.

We look forward to welcoming you again and hope everyone has had an amazing summer!

We have decided to consolidate operations to a single location sooner than expected so we can get back to offering pop-ups.

We will be closed until August 29th when we'll hold our Grand Re-Re-Re-Opening with a BOGO special (buy one meal, get one free).

Once the shift is complete, we'll simply operate entirely from our 105 Cowing Street location (Canalside along the water, next door to Fall Street Brewing).

You'll see our 106 Fall Street location slowly empty, but we are NOT closing for good...only streamlining our operation so we can better meet demand.

We look forward to seeing you again starting August 29th!

Inspired by Bob's Burgers, one of our favorite shows, I'm inviting you all to our Grand Re-Re-Re-Opening on Saturday, August 29th.

I was hoping to open this weekend, but once again, the lack of air conditioning repair by management makes it quite unbearable in there, especially when we flip on the warmers and steamers.

My BBQ adventure has been wrought with challenges from the very beginning, but I love it too much to pull the plug. All the incredible feedback on the food, all the kudos, all the support...y'all keep us going.

We first announced our Grand Opening back in 2024 after we completely rehabbed a large parcel in Liberty Plaza. Unfortunately, our Grand Opening was delayed due to building issues.

Once the building issues were resolved, and the remodeling was completed, we held our Grand Re-Opening in the summer of 2025.

And it was good.

While the location was not without its quirks, it was still our home, and we watched Riptide BBQ grow in popularity.

Unfortunately, not too long after we opened, the neighboring restaurant had to close due to recurring roof and sewer issues...issues that eventually oozed into our space as well.

Long story short, the issues went unresolved, and we faced a decision...walk away from what we built and reopen somewhere else, or walk away from what we built and close forever.

We chose to reopen.

Due to the amount of room we needed for prep, cooking, smoking, serving, and allowing for dine-in, we had to split our operation between two locations.

We would prep, cook, and smoke from 105 Cowing Street (along the water behind Fall Street) and then serve from 106 Fall Street, which was essentially right across the road.

Following weeks of repairs, repainting, replacements, and redecorating, we held our Grand Re-Re-Opening just before the "It's a Wonderful Life Festival" in late 2025.

And it was good.

Not only did we see an uptick in visitors, but we also saw a massive uptick in catering interest. So much so that we were unable to open very often for takeout or dine-in service.

Coupled with the surge in catering is a failed HVAC system at the 106 Fall Street location. We've now been without air conditioning for the past ten weeks due to management's decision to not make the repair.

We aren't wimps...we can handle a little heat...but it gets quite unbearable in the kitchen area once we power everything up, and I just can't ask that of Gabrielle.

Rather than continue to battle with the stuffy and stifling heat back there, I'm going to take the next few weeks to consolidate so we can operate entirely from our 105 Cowing Street location (Canalside, right along the water, next door to Fall Street Brewing).

I realize that this doesn't come without trade-offs and I was careful to consider both Pros and Cons before making the decision.

Some of the Pros...

- I never intended to operate like a "traditional restaurant" with consistent hours. My life is far too busy and chaotic for that. While I love the pop-up model, having a brick and mortar location carries certain expectations. Catering demand is making it impossible to meet those expectations, so consolidating to one space will make it possible for us to hold pop-ups even if we're also prepping for catering.

- Consolidating to one location will save more than $1,500 per month in wasted overhead.

- Consolidating to one location will save considerable time since we won't have to transport food, containers, bins, and supplies back and forth at the beginning and end of each service.

- At our 105 Cowing location, we have air conditioning, heat, adequate power needs, and a beautiful Canalside view right in the heart of downtown.

- The 106 Fall Street location will no longer be dark for most of the week...a lovely new bookstore will be opening in this location. More on this in a future post.

Now...let's not ignore some of the Cons...

- We will not have room for dine-in service, although I'm not sure this will have a huge impact since nearly everyone opted for takeout anyhow. For those who do want to stay downtown, there are plenty of scenic benches and areas for picnics. :)

- We will not be nearly as visible. Tucked away Canalside, the walk-by and drive-by traffic will pretty much be replaced with boat-by traffic. :) This is the biggest impact I wrestled with, but we do have a loyal following and I'm trusting that will continue. Being highly visible on the corner is great, but it's also pointless if we don't have the opportunity to be there.

- We will not be able to host people indoors, so our takeout procedure will shift a bit. You can either come to what will become our walk-up area (the location was an ice cream shoppe many years ago) or we will bring it right to your car when you arrive. We will also be looking into offering delivery.

I realize that this consolidation isn't without hiccups, but the 106 Fall Street location just isn't needed or necessary, and as we work to meet the seismic shift in catering demand, operating from a single location is the only way we can keep moving forward.

In short, we aren't closing, we're streamlining.

And we aren't moving, we're consolidating.

Here's what you can expect...

Our Grand Re-Re-Re-Opening will take place on Saturday, August 29th, and we'll be serving from our 105 Cowing Street location. You'll find us right along the canal next door to Fall Street Brewing. I'm working on signage, we'll be hard to miss.

At this Grand Re-Re-Re-Opening, we will hold a BOGO event...buy one meal and get one free. It's our way of thanking you for navigating this final change with us. :)

Finger Lakes Drone Solutions will be swinging by to grab some footage so I can show you exactly where we are and just how easy it will be for you when we hold pop-up events.

I'll continue to post as the consolidation process continues. You'll see our 106 Fall Street location slowly empty as we make the shift. Please help squash any ill-informed rumors or incorrect assumptions that we're closing. :)

The 'No Shelf Control' bookstore will take over the space and I'll post about this soon...they'll be a fantastic addition to downtown and it's been a pleasure to help guide them through the process via my role with the SFDC.

So remember...

We will remain closed (aside from catering) until our Grand Re-Re-Re-Opening event on Saturday, August 29th where we'll have a BOGO event to introduce our one and only location.

We are NOT closing for good, nor are we really moving, we're simply consolidating.

Oh! And if you see me out and about downtown, there's no need for sympathy. This is a good thing...a great thing...and I honestly couldn't be happier. It is 100% the right move for myself, my family, and this business if we're going to meet the increase in demand.

Thank you again for your ongoing support, and hang in there, I'll be making all this chaos up to you. ;)
