Almost made it all the way to Blanca..several hours of horrible thunderstorms..severe road flooding..then an hour from Blanca...coming off of La Veta Pass what should step out in front of me from an incline but a cocky huge bull elk with the most beautiful rack....and 2 does right behind him...I guess he thought he had the right of way..I smacked him dead center..there was no immediate place to pull off..it was pouring rain and a semi coming from the opposite direction...I got stopped..flashed my lights for the semi to slow down..just in case that bad boy was laying in the middle of the road..and called 911..front of the uhaul pretty messed up..hours later I am still shaking..at impact Dublin jumped up from a dead sleep ..up into my lap and partly on the steering wheel!!I gratefully I was not in my car..it probably would not have ended well..
The guardian angels assigned to me probably flew directly to dispatch and begged for a reassignment..
That makes 5 sure enough miracles in 3 days for me...God is good...
