Another recipe from the people who made your Levi’s. 👖🍰

We’re cracking open Denim Delights again—a collection of recipes from the J.A. Lamy Manufacturing Co. days, when this building was busy making blue jeans... and apparently some very serious desserts.

This month: Fudge Sheet Cake, submitted by Linda Hodge.

CAKE
1 stick oleo
1 cup water
4 Tbsp. cocoa
½ tsp. salt
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
½ cup buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs

Bring the oleo and water to a boil. In a mixing bowl, combine the cocoa, salt, sugar, flour, buttermilk, soda, vanilla and eggs. Pour the boiling mixture over everything and stir well. Pour into a greased sheet pan and bake at 350° for 15–20 minutes.

ICING
1 stick oleo
6 Tbsp. milk
4 Tbsp. cocoa
1 box powdered sugar
1 cup nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Bring the oleo, milk and cocoa to a boil. Add the powdered sugar and nuts, beat well, then add vanilla. Pour over the cake while hot.

Straight from Denim Delights to your kitchen. And yes, we fully intend to keep digging through this cookbook once a month. Save this one for your next chocolate emergency.
