Hi Friends & Neighbors:
With a mix of gratitude and sadness, we would like to let you know that Big Chickie will be closing permanently after dinner service on Friday, December 13th.
We are deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to serve you and be part of the amazing Hillman City community for these past 5+ years. We are proud of all that our team has accomplished in this time, and cherish the countless friends that we have made.
We would like to especially thank our wonderful team - both current and alumni - for all of your hard work and laughs, and for the kindness that you have shown to each other and to our guests. We would especially like to highlight Rebecca, our team supervisor, whose steady leadership, warmth, and hospitality has radiated since our doors first opened in August of 2014. Jamie, our other team leader, has been our other steady hand for the past couple of years. We would not have been able to do any of this without the two of you.
29 high school employees have worked with us over the past 5 years. Many have been with us for 2 or more years, as they graduated high school and then joined us on breaks from college. We are so proud of our high school team members. We appreciate your hard work, and it was wonderful to watch you learn, thrive, and grow.
We would also like to thank our landlords, whose father's business Rudy's Texaco served this community for much much longer (1950's - 2000's) than our run. They have been nothing but supportive partners in our endeavor. We trust that the next tenants will continue all the great service that Rudy embodied and we strived for every day.
A new, independent small business will be moving into the Big Chickie space. We can't share who it is, but based upon their fan reviews, we are sure they will be a hit in the neighborhood. We hope that you will welcome them with the same kindness that you have shown to us.
Sara and I have been blessed to welcome two little girls into our family since we opened Big Chickie in 2014. Our oldest was born about 8 weeks after we opened, and the morning of a review by the Seattle Times. We often joked at the time that we had twins, the restaurant and the baby, and that both kept us up at night. Our family's choice to close Big Chickie was a tough decision, and it was made with our daughters in mind. It has been a pleasure to serve so many families and watch your children grow and enjoy Big Chickie, so we know that you will understand our need to focus on our family.
It would be wonderful to see you at Big Chickie one more time in the coming days. We sincerely appreciate your business and your kindness. Thank you for making Big Chickie a part of your life.
Sincerely,
Matt & Sara Stubbs
