Seattle businesses need the City’s support when major public projects disrupt access, parking, and day-to-day operations.

The Seattle Times Editorial Board recently highlighted this issue and the importance of the City working with local businesses to help them stay afloat during construction.

For Bluwater Bistro and our neighbors in Leschi, this is exactly what we’ve been asking for: a workable plan that allows important improvements to move forward without putting local businesses at unnecessary risk.

Major City construction projects may be necessary, but they shouldn’t come at the expense of the small businesses that serve Seattle neighborhoods every day.

A recent Seattle Times editorial focused on exactly this problem: when public projects significantly affect parking, access, and customer traffic, the City needs to work with local businesses to minimize the impact.

That issue is very real for us here in Leschi.

The marina construction is creating serious concerns for Leschi Market, BluWater Bistro, and other nearby businesses that depend on customers being able to easily reach the neighborhood.

We support improvements to our neighborhood, and we are not asking for the project to be stopped. What we are asking for is a practical plan that allows the work to move forward while preserving as much parking and access as reasonably possible.

Leschi Market has served this neighborhood since 1948. We want to make sure Leschi remains a place where long-standing local businesses can continue to operate, grow, and serve the community.

This is where we could really use your help.

Please take a few minutes to read the Seattle Times editorial, and then use the link below to contact the Mayor and Seattle City Council and ask them to work with Leschi businesses on a reasonable solution.
