I told y’all grief makes us do weird things 😂

Celebrated my nephew’s (sister and brother’s dog) 3rd birthday. Wish could have been there to see everyone love on his pup. The last handful of conversations I had with him before his accident, was all about how he was willing to give everything up for this dog. Griffey really was his best friend❤️ He would have been so happy to see the big party his wife put on for their pupper❤️

And hell yes that’s a peanut butter cake for the gooboy, made by yours truly💁🏼‍♀️

Light & airy or dense & moist?

Both of these slices are from the same batch. The difference? The slice on the right was wrapped and sent to the freezer as soon as it came out of the oven, locking in the moisture and creating a more dense texture.

I love a moist cake. The experience of biting into a moist slice, then pushing it to the roof of your mouth with your tongue, only to enjoy the dense texture and moist flavor with every bite…You don’t even NEED frosting with my cakes (though frosting just adds to the whole cake experience).

I’ve mentioned before that I do not like chocolate, pecans, or coconuts, so German Chocolate Cake orders are me pretty much flying blindly on taste, and leaning on my husband and client feedback for taste testing.

WELL LET ME TELL YOU. I was brave and tried the 3 flavors together today AND OH MY GOSH IT IS DELICIOUS🤩 This is not your grandpa’s QFC birthday cake!

These Seattle Summer days are getting warmer and warmer!

A note about your buttercream cakes: the main ingredient is butter! Butter softens in the heat, so your beautifully decorated cakes will too.

Keep your cakes in the fridge until about 30 minutes before eating (10 minutes if the cake will be displayed in direct sunlight or high temperatures) so it doesn’t collapse. And don’t even THINK about leaving it in the car while you run into the store😅

Luckily this cake was only pretend-melting, because that is a giant cake-pop ice cream cone😅
