For over 50 years the Maruca Family has consistently produced an instantly recognizable classic old-world flavor that has made their incredibly popular pizza a true boardwalk legend. It all started back in 1950 in Trenton, NJ where four brothers – Anthony, Pasquale

, Joseph, and Dominick Maruca – realized after their father’s untimely death there was no real future in working the coal mines as he had for so many years. They wanted to create a business with a real future, but little did they know just how successful they would be in standing the test of time. The Maruca family decided to turn their love of food into a business, and with Anthony’s leadership and guidance soon opened their first family-run pizza shop in their hometown. A few years later, the family opened the first of many successful pizza shops at the Jersey shore on the famous seaside boardwalk, and began an unprecedented run of extraordinary popularity that continues to this very day. In a marketplace where there sometimes seems to be a new pizza shop popping up on every corner, Maruca’s Tomato Pies has thrived by consistently being "the Best on the Boards." Although the names and locations have changed many times throughout the decades that followed, the Maruca family still remains completely dedicated to providing the very best pizza to their ever-growing legion of loyal customers. ❤️ In Memory of Anthony Maruca ❤️

Anthony was a beloved member of the Maruca family whose life was tragically lost in 2017 following exposure to a food allergen.

Each October, I’m Kind of a Big Deal brings our family, friends, and community together to walk in Anthony’s memory, raise awareness about food allergies and the dangers of cross-contamination, and raise funds for a scholarship established in his name.

This year’s 4th Annual “I’m Kind of a Big Deal” Walk will take place on Saturday, October 10 at 9:00 AM, right here on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk at Maruca’s Pizza, 601 Ocean Terrace.

We hope you’ll join the Maruca family in remembering Anthony and supporting a cause that means so much to all of us. ❤️
