Handlebar J, "Scottsdale's Original Rib House" and saloon, is one of a kind; Herndon family owned and operated since 1967... (established in 1966.) Built in the early 1960s by "Wild Bill Byrd" the original name was "Wild Bill's". At that time there were only a few western style saloons in North Scottsdale, since then, all the others have come and gone.

We are saddened to share the news of the devastating loss of our brother and friend, John G. Willis. An important member of the Herndon Brothers band for 15 years, as well as Nate Nathan and The MacDaddyOs!
No words can describe what a Gentle Giant John Willis is and has been to all of us with his amazing musicality, bass and vocal prowess. We love you John Willis, and you will be so missed and forever in our hearts…. and simply, thank you for your music and kindness. None better.

Our hearts go out to John’s wife Carrie and the entire family.
A very sad day for all of us, as well as John’s fans everywhere. I guess God needed a bass player, and he got THE BEST!!!
God speed, John forever RIP! 🙏
