This post feels a little different to write because for the last few years, I’ve been the person behind this page ❤️
If you’ve read a Weston House Cafe post, sent us a message, commented on a photo, entered one of our giveaways, or wondered who was behind the camera taking pictures of your coffee—it was probably me, Maddie, hi there friend!
After being part of Weston House Cafe since the very beginning, I’ve made the bittersweet decision to step away from my role and begin a new chapter.
And when I say the beginning, I really mean the beginning…
I was here when Weston House was little more than structural beams and an idea of what this space could someday become. I went from painting walls and helping bring the physical space to life, to creating menus, building vendor relationships, developing processes, hiring and training employees, managing operations, creating menu specials, answering emails, building community partnerships, decorating our humble space, managing this social media page, and handling countless things behind the scenes that most people never see.
I’ve had the opportunity to be part of nearly every aspect of Weston House, from the smallest details to some of the biggest decisions!
And somewhere along the way, Weston House became much more than something I helped build…
It became early mornings, busy lunch rushes, and late nights. New menu ideas scribbled down at the oddest moments and then brought to life. Familiar faces walking through the door with resonating relations. Employees who became friends. Local makers who became partners. Community events, collaborations, conversations, mistakes, lessons, celebrations, and so many moments that helped shape not only Weston House, but me as a person and a leader.
Watching this place go from structural beams to a cafe filled with people laughing, working, meeting friends, grabbing their morning coffee, and supporting other local businesses is something I will always be incredibly proud to have been part of!
Looking back, it’s pretty incredible to realize just how many different parts of Weston House I’ve had the opportunity to help build, shape, and grow.
But most importantly, thank you!
To every person who has walked through our doors, ordered or observed, shared one of our posts, supported one of our local makers, attended an event, left us feedback, told a friend about Weston House, or simply chose to spend part of your day here— you helped turn an idea into a community!
And to every employee I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside, train, learn from, laugh with, and lead: thank you, to every one, for being such an important part of this chapter in my life 🫶🏼
As strange as it feels to write my own goodbye on the page I’ve taken care of since the beginning, it also feels fitting that I get to write one final post to all of you.
As I step away from my last behind the counter day at the cafe August 28th, please be patient as our new leaders get hold of the reins during our transitional period when my official last day will be September 13th. You’ll still have a familiar face behind the scenes with Natalie, who has been part of Weston House since the beginning and stepped into a management role in January 2025. Joining her will be a new face, Riaan, although some of you may recognize him from Iron House Gym.
I know they’ll bring their own creativity, ideas, and personality to this page and to Weston House, and I’m excited to watch this next chapter from the other side of the counter.
There is no way to fit everything these years have meant to me into one social media post. I’m leaving with countless memories, lessons, relationships, and an enormous amount of gratitude.
I’m incredibly proud of what I helped build here!
Thank you for letting me be a part of your mornings, lunches, coffee dates, meetings, celebrations, and everyday routines!!
Thank you for supporting Weston House, believing in our employees, and embracing this little dream as it grew into something bigger and more meaningful than I could have imagined in those early days!
And thank you for allowing me to help turn a space filled with structural beams into something pretty special. 🤍
