Two years ago today, we walked into a craft fair. We had no idea we were walking into a completely different future.
October, 2024.
We met a man named Randy.
What started as a simple conversation turned into an opportunity that would forever change the direction of our family's life.
Here's the thing. Randy didn't know us. He didn't know our story, our struggles, our dreams, or just how badly we wanted to build something of our own.
But within minutes, he offered us something that, at that moment in our lives, seemed almost out of reach.
He took a chance on us before he had any reason to believe we could pull it off.
And we did what we do best. We took that opportunity, scared as hell, and gave it everything we had.
Looking back over these two years, I think about everything that's happened. The coffee shop, the trolley, the people we've met, the friendships we've made, and the life we're building together as a family.
And to think, so much of it started with one conversation.
Every time I see an advertisement for the Blue Ridge October craft fair, I find myself reflecting on that day and how different our lives might look had we never walked through those doors.
Randy, I don't know if you hear it enough, but thank you.
Not just for the opportunity, but for your friendship, your encouragement, and for continuing to believe in us.
I don't think words will ever fully express what that has meant to me, my wife, and our children.
The greatest way we can repay that kindness is to keep paying it forward. To take chances on people, open doors when we can, and offer someone else the same hand up that you offered us.
Because sometimes changing someone's life doesn't require some grand gesture.
Sometimes it starts with a conversation.
And sometimes the person you're talking to has absolutely no idea that you're helping change their entire world.
