We are having vehicle issues and need to close the trolley for the rest of the day today.

We will be back tomorrow morning for a few hours tho! And you can find us this weekend at Blue Ridge Winery in Saylorsburg!

A year ago, I received this message, and today it hits differently.

Sometimes the Universe gives you a sign long before you understand why. At the time, it may just feel like a thoughtful message. But later, when life starts unfolding and the pieces begin to connect, you realize it was part of the puzzle all along.

That’s how this feels now.

Over the last year, I’ve watched the puzzle pieces of Cracked Bean slowly come together. Piece by piece, the vision has gotten clearer. Things that once felt uncertain now feel aligned. What once lived mostly in my mind is starting to take shape in real life.

This message reminded me to trust the bigger picture, stay open to the signs, and keep moving forward even when every piece wasn’t visible yet.
The Universe really does have a way of working its magic.

And when I look at Cracked Bean now, it feels like one more reminder that the pieces were always finding their way together

We don’t do it because it’s easy.

We do it because it’s ours. Because these long days are building something bigger. Because the memories with our kids, the connections with our customers, and the dream we’re chasing are worth every early morning and late night.

Today started at the trolley at 6:20am and ends at Sherman Theater with Nonpoint with my son.

right back at it tomorrow morning at 6:30 AM.

Long days. Great memories. Plenty of coffee.

I am stoked to bring my son to his first Nonpoint concert tomorrow night. We invited nonpoint to the trolley for the best coffee they’ve ever had.. We have a “Coffee with your name on it” hopefully they can swing on by to see us at Pocono mountain Harley Davidson or we can bring the trolley to them…. One year ago today, after twenty years, my corporate career ended through a Teams meeting.

When I told Lee Evan, I expected fear—and there was some. We had a family, bills, and a small coffee business that was nowhere near ready to carry all of us.

But what I saw most clearly on my wife’s face was relief.

Not relief that I had lost my job.

Relief that the thing she believed might eventually kill me no longer had access to me.

Later, while working on my book(working on a book about becoming who you are meant to be), I asked her what her happiest day had been since we started Cracked Bean.

She answered without hesitation:

“August 1, 2025. The day you were set free.”

That answer still hits me.

Because I didn’t lose a career that day.

She got her husband back.

The past year has not been easy. Freedom never promised easy. But it gave us the ability to make our own decisions, move when opportunities appeared, be there for our children, and stop waiting for someone else’s permission to build the life we wanted.

In one year, we built Lula Gray, grew Cracked Bean, opened new doors, created new opportunities, and turned ideas into reality faster than I ever thought possible.

One year free.

And we are just getting started.
