Shipyard Weekends is an opportunity for young innovators, community leaders and local nonprofits to converge for the greater good. What they accomplish in one weekend could otherwise take months, or may never happen at all due to limited resources.

WE WON! Inclusion Revolution’s challenge at The Shipyard Weekend took home the Poseidon Cup! Huge congratulations to Team Python made up primarily of students from Sarasota’s Pine View School. The team spent the weekend building a real, working web app designed to better connect our Inclusion Revolution Ambassadors with potential employers.

What started as a challenge on paper is now something real, tested, and ready to grow. Stay tuned as this might turn into something pretty big.

From challenge to working app in one weekend.

Our Shipyard team didn’t just brainstorm, they built. The Ability Passport is now a real, working, tested app, built specifically to help our participants show employers what they can do. Tonight, this incredible group is prepping to present it to a panel of judges and investors.

Talent, heart, and hustle. These guys are rocking it, and we couldn’t be prouder to see our challenge come to life this weekend at The Shipyard.

Big moment for Inclusion Revolution. Beaver and Nick took the stage at The Shipyard last night to introduce our challenge to a room full of builders, designers, and creatives ready to turn ideas into reality. We are grateful to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County for investing in both the work Inclusion Revolution is doing today and the future we are building.

Through two grants totaling $20,000, the Foundation helped strengthen our organization in two important ways:

A $7,500 Capacity Building Grant allowed us to purchase Bloomerang, a donor management system that will help us build stronger relationships with our supporters and create more sustainable funding for our mission.

A $12,500 Community Impact Grant helped strengthen our Integrated Jobs Program, connecting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to job-skills training, supportive employers, and meaningful paid employment.

With this support, our employment program has continued to grow. We now have 20 participants placed in paid jobs, 37 individuals developing skills through pre-vocational training, and 12 employer partners helping create a more inclusive workforce.

This is what meaningful philanthropy looks like: supporting immediate impact while also investing in the infrastructure needed to sustain and expand that impact.

Thank you to the Community Foundation’s staff and board, as well as the generous donors and family foundations whose philanthropy it stewards. Your belief in our mission is helping more people with IDD discover their abilities, earn a paycheck, experience greater independence, and receive the opportunity to shine.

Big news for Rooted & Rising!

Inclusion Revolution is honored to receive a grant from The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation to help build out our Rooted & Rising garden-to-market program at Sunnyside Village.

This investment will help fund protective fencing, raised garden beds, soil, drip irrigation, and a shade pavilion creating a safer, more productive, and more welcoming space for participants and residents.

Rooted & Rising gives adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities another place to grow job skills, confidence, purpose, and belonging through gardening, flowers, market work, and meaningful community connection.

We are so grateful to the Selby Foundation for helping us plant possibility and harvest dignity.

A little coffee, a lot of joy, and a reminder of why meaningful work matters.

This weekend, Beaver visited Bitty & Beau’s Coffee in Jacksonville, Florida, and had the best time chatting with the team and reminiscing about our Rise Up Cafe days.

Maddie, Diamond, Corey, Lexie, Tim, and Hollie were welcoming, proud, and absolutely on top of their work. Every one of them clearly loves being part of the team, and it showed in the way they served customers, supported each other, and filled the shop with energy.

Places like Bitty & Beau’s remind us what happens when people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are given real opportunities to work, contribute, and shine.

Great coffee. Great people. Great mission.
